Some more random, unorganized pointers:
The Sisters
If a drone helo is going after your mortar drone, try to go places where the chopper will have to go near something you can easily hit. Splash damage, like everything else, tears em up.
For either WC ground drones, low walls and obsticles that you can fire over are your best friend... espcially if it has peaks that fully cover you. Grenades and rockets will often hit the wall instead of you.
If you're controlling a WC ground drone and you see hidus... run.
A nice little feature of the mortar drone is that it's explosions offer great cover if you hit the face of a tank. This can give you time to get to cover. This blinding effect works against everything. Four mortar shots kill a buggy.
Mortar drones can fire over cover considerably higher than itself, which is a great way to engage tanks and AT's.
Don't be afraid to have more than one drone out at once. Imagine having 3 drones out and all fully charged...
In most situations, you should always have your recon drone out and in good cover, hopefully with a view of your body. Keep your eyes on the HUD, cuz unluss someone is EMP (or exploiting an exploit, or is bugged), you will see them on your minimap.
Don't forget that you are still a soldier. If an enemy is between you and your drone and is focused on your drone, a good option is to flip to body and kill them from behind. Switch it up, don't be predictable.
If the drone you have out (not including the recon) isn't charged, it often is a good idea to wait till it's charged before you whip out the other drone. It sux gettin killed right after you pop your third drone, then spawn with nothing charged.
Don't think of each drone purely individually. Space em out, cover each entrance to your body and make sure that your "eyes are up" in a good spot so you can visually look for those pesky EMPs.
It's harder to kick over a drone when it's moving full speed.
Drone turrets move slowly, have a limited range of motion and the reverse excelleration is not as fast as forward. Fight with this in mind. Have your nose pointing to cover, be aware of the directions enemies can approach from, hopefully in a spot where the turret doesn't have too far to turn and try to stay far enough away from ledges so your mortar drone can hit the top. If you're too close, they can hit your drone, but you can't hit them.
You can drive under friendly AND enemy tanks with a drone, but it can be risky.
Know the rock/paper scissors of your drones.. in other words, know which ones to use and when. Just because you the tiger claw out doesn't mean you can't hide it somewhere and use the rover to take out a vehicle. Be flexible.
Drones make you one of the most aware people of the battlefield and also increases the awareness of others. Use this to your advantage. If you see a guy slipping through your lines undetected, make sure people know about it. One of the most common tactics is a player getting behind lines and killing people who spawn, or SL's going behind the lines. The current skill level, the lack of in-game voice or bf2-like spotting feature and the fact that many people really don't care if someone gets by them as long as they can keep getting kills is making this kind of tactic extremely effective. Being the most aware kit, you MUST take an active role in preventing this stuff.
Don't forget that your drones are a deterent to enemy infantry. Sometimes, keeping the enemy pinned, or at least not advancing is a lot more important than getting kills. This holdes especially true with the mortar drone.
The Red Star rover is a one shot deal, so don't be afraid to use it, ESPECIALLY when it's charged and you have one down.
WATCH OUT FOR LANDMINES.
As already mentioned, drones can't cap, but neither can your body while you're controling a drone. I hope they change the latter.
Unless you only used a few shots as the assault drone, your drones should usually fire their full compliment after a kill. I tend to use that extra ammo as surpressive fire where I think the enemy might come from. Once spent, reload under cover then rinse and repeat.
Another aspect of the awareness of the drone tech is to constantly evaluate all the info you have and use it to determine what you should be doing on the battlefield.
