Don't forget that you are still a soldier. If an enemy is between you and your drone and is focused on your drone, a good option is to flip to body and kill them from behind. Switch it up, don't be predictable...
...Drones make you one of the most aware people of the battlefield and also increases the awareness of others. Use this to your advantage. If you see a guy slipping through your lines undetected, make sure people know about it. One of the most common tactics is a player getting behind lines and killing people who spawn, or SL's going behind the lines. The current skill level, the lack of in-game voice or bf2-like spotting feature and the fact that many people really don't care if someone gets by them as long as they can keep getting kills is making this kind of tactic extremely effective. Being the most aware kit, you MUST take an active role in preventing this stuff...
..Don't forget that your drones are a deterent to enemy infantry. Sometimes, keeping the enemy pinned, or at least not advancing is a lot more important than getting kills. This holdes especially true with the mortar drone...
