I think the hardware is the biggest cause of PC problems (as was mentioned). The Intel integrated graphics chip caused a huge uproar since people thinking they had a grahics card could not play games.
Iron Lore went ut of beuisness more so from THQ (the publisher) than piracy. THQ did nothing to help them outside of normal funding.
