Default Computer Broke

For the past few days, after booting up my Acer Aspire 5670 laptop, neither the touchpad, nor the keyboard, nor the USB mouse I use respond at all. Once I get to the Windows (XP) log in screen it all stops working, although sometimes I manage to log in for a little bit, only to have them all stop working again within about a minute. I'm 99% certain it's a Windows problem, since I can get into the BIOS and set up just fine, and use the keyboard there, but once Windows loads up everything quits out. I think it may be connected to an error message I got the last time I shut down, which said that program "CTclicker.exe" or something (most likely not accurate, though I believe it had click in the name) was not responding and gave me the option to end then. I did, and ever since then the keyboard has been acting up. I tried googling Acer keyboard problems, I tried restoring the defaults in the Setup menu for the computer, but none of that has worked. The only thing I can think of now would be to somehow replace whatever file's corrupted or do a complete Windows reinstall, which I would like to avoid. It's worth noting that somehow after the first time this happened I managed to get my computer to boot properly again with keyboard working, and that lasted until I was forced to turn it off completely again. So I really have no idea what's wrong with it. Any help would be appreciated.

edit: I forgot to say, the keyboard/touchpad also work just fine in Safe Mode.
