It's impossible for me to tell what games are going to be good or not ahead of time. Preview articles are absolutely worthless because all they try and do is build hype. I'm not sure I've EVER read an article where the game previewed has negative comments that don't involve the timeliness of its release.
So I am, along with most people, left to go on the reputation and the enjoyment of previous games. If I liked Battlefield 2, for example, Battlefield 3 probably is going to have things that appeal to me.
