Focused Racing League Rules
Schedule
Races will normally be held once weekly. For each race the time and date, the track, the number of laps and car restrictions will be published in advance. The details of each race may be subject to change until a week prior to the scheduled date. Race details will be fixed in the preceeding week to give racers an opportunity to prepare, plan and familiarize themselves with the track.
The schedule will be announced soon.
Car Selection
To be determined. I would prefer a formula system, where any vehicle is acceptable so long as it satisfies certain performance requirements and limitations. However an alternative scheme may be necessary in the interest of fairness.
Points
The league winner will be the racer with the most points. Points will be awarded based on finishing order:
- 1st Place - 8 points
- 2nd Place - 7 points
- 3rd Place - 6 points
- 4th Place - 5 points
- 5th Place - 4 points
- 6th Place - 3 points
- 7th Place - 2 points
- 8th Place - 1 point
Also, an additional point will be awarded to the racer with the fastest lap time (excluding the winner). If the race winner has the fastest lap time, no extra point will be awarded.
Race Qualifying and Grid Position
There is only space in a race for eight racers. If there are more than eight interested players, racers will be selected by time trial. Racers must complete a time trial on the scheduled track at least an hour before the race start; multiple attempts may be made and only the fastest time will be considered.
Grid order will be based on time trial lap times.
Driver Aids
Part of the challenge of this racing league will be selection and tuning of your race car. So, electronic driver aids will not be allowed. If your car is not controllable without aids, retune its suspension or select a different car.
Traction control is
not allowed.
Stability control is
not allowed.
Antilock brakes are
not allowed.
Automatic transmission is allowed.
Race lines will be disabled.
Spin-outs and Loss of Control
If you lose control of your vehicle, do not impede the other racers on the track. Do not dangerously pull back into traffic and risk causing further accidents.
Sportsmanship
Don't be a dick. Contact and accidents will happen, but don't intentionally push other cars out of your way or make them lose control.
These are preliminary. Suggestions and comments are more than welcome.
