The keeps I will assume will be in the same spot no matter if they are on a pvp server or a pve server, so the only real difference is that on a pve you can actually read the quests and kill stuff as opposed to a pvp server where you need 5+ people in your group to do the same thing.
It seems to me that to be successful in PVP and lessen the chance of frustration from repeated beatings a party of at least four would be needed. The smart group doesn't go into PVP with the idea to gank everyone in sight. If your simply attacking everyone you see your not going to last very long. From what I've played in PVP it's the idea of getting attacked by other players that add to the exictement of the game. Always being on guard creates tension all while doing the PVE portion.

Both PVE and PVP are team centered I just think PVP takes it a bit further and you need to be that much more coordinated to make it succesful.

I can see those points. I still believe though, after playing on mutliple pvp servers and pve server over the year that open pvp isn't the way to go. It breeds too many idiots.

U still have pvp on a pve server, just its centrlized in boarder kingdoms right? Its not open pvp everywhere which is what I dont care for. Its the simple fact that if you want to get on and run around and lvl you have the chance to not even read a quest without getting jumped.

There will be those people who level super quick just for the purpose of sitting in towns and killing people obtaining or completing quests, its gonna happen you can pretty much bet on it. My main will be on a pve server though i will have one on a pvp server if thats where the bulk of everyone goes.

wow and conan are so different though. You dont get ganked by your own people. Thats the main thing. Now if they allowed conan to be a Race PVP then it would be ok imo but by allowing fully open pvp it imo will get way old way quick.

I played on a pvp server in wow, it wasnt bad until you were trying to get to MC or BWL or something where hostiles could be camping on the way. Other then that it wasnt too bad.

For me, it was those great PvP battles that just popped up out of nowhere that made the game have some lasting appeal.

Yes, getting ganked sucks. Getting ganked by some loudmouthed punk that corpse camps you for an hour sucks even worse. But, for me, there's nothing more fun in an MMO than going up against another group of "real" players. PvE is fun and has some great moments, but it just doesn't hold the same rush for me.

With that being said, since there is PvP at the higher levels I could be happy on a PvE server. The only issue we have to keep in mind with that is that it will be LARGE guild warfare. With the ability to build and attack/defend cities, the little guys might not have much of a place, so the fun level may vary wildly.

PvP servers get a bad rap due to the actions of mostly small groups. Let's face it, some people just take pleasure out of causing pain to others and those types of people almost always gravitate towards the PvP servers when they are able.

So, what it comes down to is playing with friends because where you get the most grief in PvP is when you solo. It's just to easy to get ganked and PvP is almost always a numbers game. Yes, groups get ganked too, but it's usually less common. Having other people watch your back is always a good thing. Especially when you get some people that can level quickly and come to your aid when needed. In the end, it almost always evens out. At least in my experience.

Anyway, this is something we need to decide ASAP. Is anyone just dead set and gone on one specific type of server or would everyone be mostly happy regardless on what ruleset we choose?

For the voting, we're 7 to 5 in favor of a PvP server of some type over PvE.

Doh! Oh okay, I didn't realize that it was PvP between your own people...then yeah, that could be frustrating
