Default pvp

This is my main reason for not wanting to play on a pvp server.. This is from the official forums.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is a real problem with spawn camping. I'm just lvl 10 and was doing quests in White Sands when I was ganked and then had 2 lvl 18 players ALZARRA & ALKARRA from the same guild on Doomsayer "International Killing Krew" spawn camp me for 20 min killing me constantly. The game gave me no other options to spawn at another point or to even log out. Finally, after begging them to let me spawn, so that I could log out they agreed to stop killing me. I didn't mind getting ganked, because I know that you must suffer thru that on a PVP server. However, it's not right for other high lvl players to prevent you from actually playing the game. This was not honorable and very childish behavior. I thought that I had left that kind of behavior behind me after leaving WOW, but I see that I was very wrong!!! So, until this is fixed, I'm moving over to a PVE server.

Having not played yet it could be an issue. Though, I'm of the mind that teamwork is the key in PVP. A like minded group will really prevent this type of behavior. From what's been described, it looks like it was two against one, never mind the level difference so strength in numbers and relying on your party members will make all the difference. I'll be there for you cg!

Like I said, ganking happens on a PvP server. On some more than others.

The cool thing on the RP server is that if you give a shout out over the channel, someone usually comes to help. Most people hate gankers which is why you already have guilds forming to deal with them.

But it will always happen regardless. So yeah, I understand where you're coming from. I just try not to look at it from the extreme point of view. Will this happen every day? 90% of the time? 50%? 10% of the time?

If it's around 10% (which has been my normal experience on every FFA PvP server I'd tried.) I can deal with it and still enjoy giving back what I take. Still sucks but it's figured into the equation. You have to go into it with the expectation of getting ganked now and again but it pays off for all the great PvP battles you have.

If that's enough or not is totally up to you. Hell, until this game, most MMO PvP'ers were in the minority so it's not like you're alone in feeling like you do.

Hell, I'm not a huge fan of FFA PvP either. If I had my choice, I'd be 100% happy on the PvE server if it was like DAoC. You could PvP if/when you wanted but didn't ever have to deal with it if it wasn't your thing. They say the Boarderlands are somewhat like this, but since information is so sketchy, I'd hate to level all that way only to find that all you can do i seige the keeps. So much is still unknown at the moment and that's what's making a lot of us unsure.

Why every other MMO with PvP hasn't followed that model is beyond me, but we have to deal with what we have. No right or wrong choice, just different preferences.

But as it stands, our best option for PvP is the RP server due to reasons stated here and elsewhere.

*EDIT* for some additional thoughts

Well we had our first fighting last night and it wasn't too bad. We got ganked a few times and did some ganking in return.

One perticular level 16 necro decided to gank us with his lvl 20 friend, in the end though once he died and we were all still at the bind point we ganked him as soon as he spawned. After that point I think they left us alone for the evening lol

All in all so far it wasn't too bad of an experience. Going to be interesting to see what happens once we all hit 20 and move from the starter town.

I'd like to punch through some PvE quests in the PvP environment at Whitesands (Doomsayer) tonight if anyone want to help out.

I'm still bumbling along at level 11.5

PvP MMOs are a lot of fun when you have some friends you can rally to come help you. It forces a level of teamwork that isn't necessary in a PvE environment. You just have to get over the fact that levelling will take longer because you have to watch your back all the time but recognize that everyone else on the server has to go through the same thing. It's why reaching level cap in a pvp environment is a much greater achievement than it is on a pve server.

Most of us moved to the RP-PvP server.

Ya we are on Cimmeria now. The only reason though is because we were/are hoping for less asshats. I dont care for the fact that its the only PVP-RP server and the server load is high.

I did have some fun last night with Kat when we ganked a guy that was killing a lower lvl. I did accidently gank another guy too though. He was getting his ass kicked by mobs and i went to assist only to forget that the attack is an arc and i was hidden so I killed both him and the mob lol.

You guys need to not level too fast though lol. Play a few characters so we can all stay around the same level! :P

An interview with Dev talking about the Anti-Griefing system that will be introduced - Prison and bounties...

You will have a warrant and bounty over your head in certain areas... you can either pay to get out of prision or do "community service" quests to earn your freedom in that area. A brilliant idea. I can't wait to see it in action!
