Default Game UI

I have to say this..this is the most horrible UI I've ever seen. It's, to me, not an incredibly user-friendly UI.

So far, I'm definitely not impressed. Anyone who said Wow sucked compared to this game needs to be shot At least the UI for Wow is pretty straightforward.

I'm unable to add friends. When I hit the 'friend' button (middle left) it just shows me all of MY friends (of which I have none) but no way for me to add anyone else. Could this be because I am in the beginning???

Also, if I just want to log out to change characters, I can't type /quit (which I don't want to do, I just want to get to the login screen) or hit F10 (which does nothing for me btw, although it tells me in the 'help' menu that it should take me to my login screen). Nightmare.

If anyone can let me know if I'm somehow missing something, that would be great...I haven't had much guidance in all this at all, so, I'm at a loss. Like I said, I can navigate through WoW just fine with no problems, but this UI is not, in my opinion, all that user friendly.

Freak,

Easy way to add friends is /cc addbuddy Name

If you want to log out type /camp or bring up the options screen and hit Exit Game. Let the timer run out to go back to the login screen. If you hit "Exit Now" it will boot you to desktop. (Yes, annoying as hell, but once you understand that's how it works, it's not that big of a deal.)

The UI isn't perfect and coming from WoW, the customization options of the chat box, mini-map and a few other things is really annoying. However, I think the other aspects of the game far outweigh those issues.

Just fire away with any questions and jump on TS with us and we'll help you get through the games quirks and into the fun stuff. Because there's a ton of fun to be had once you get used to the differences in the game.

I have found the easiest way to add friends is to open the friend panel and then just add their name. It is a few extra clicks, but it is worth it. This was very helpful when adding the large list of all of you freaks and geeks.

Be patient. The more I play this game, the more I like it. It's got some real neat features and functionality. It might not be intuitive, but it's really starting to grow on me.

The mini-map, for example, is absolutely fantastic... when it's working properly.

Thanks guys.

So I saw Zoopy's FAQ on 'how do I add a friend' and when I click the middle tab (top left) my screen doesn't look like that at all. It just has columns of 'Friend' and things like where they are located and stuff. I'm figuring this is probably because I just started?? I wish I would've taken a screen shot, cus it would be much easier to show you than to try to explain.

I'll try again tonight and see how that goes.

I agree that the interface is not the most intuitive... I feel a bit lost. However, there will be numerous UI mods coming out very soon that, hopefully, will address some of the usability issues.

Curse is up and running with their AOC site. I will be trying out some UI Mods once some promising ones surface. More on this as it develops.

Also, I read somewhere that turning off the UI in a city can raise your FPS by 20+... so a minimalistic UI will be nice for running around town. We may see some of that soon.

The middle tab opens and closes your friend list, the one on the far left (the one boxed in the FAQ) is the one you have to open.
