There are TON of Interface options as well as Video tweaks that you can do to this game. The problem is, you have to wade through them all to figure out what does what.
So this is the thread to post anything helpful to our new players as well as any tips or tricks you've come up with to make the game experience be that much better.
So let's get started!
--To claim your loot if you pre-ordered. Put in your retail code where you register your account.
https://register.ageofconan.com
Once in game, type /claim in the chat box. If you don't get your stuff, send a petition to a GM to get it fixed. It's a known bug that happens to some people and they should have a general patch ASAP.
Logging Out:
--To log out of the game, type /camp OR hit escape and click on "Exit Game".
**If you just want to go back to the log-in screen, let the 30 second timer run out and do not hit "Exit Now". If you do, it will kick you out of the game.
To add Friends:
--Type /cc addbuddy Name --with Name being the name of the person you want to add.
--To ignore /ignore Name
You can also do this through the group screen as well which can be accessed by clicking on one of the circles at the top left of your screen.
--If you get stuck, type /stuck and it will reset your character to you last good "unstuck" position
--If you have a problem type /petition and then what your issue is. /petition status will tell you where you are in the petition Q. You can play other characters on the same server and your petition will carry over to them as well.
--Emotes: For a list of emotes type /emote then hit your tab key twice.
Single Player:
Most of the first 20 levels can be done by using the single player aspect of the game. To access this, go into the bar just inside and to the right of the main gate of Tortage. Speak with Tina first and she will give you your first chance to enter the single player quest line. (Night Time). You can leave the single player at any time by talking with the main people in the bar. And you can reenter it just as easily.
The Single player explains who you are and why you're in the position you are. (no memory, strange tatoo, etc...and it's not because you got drunk the night before.

) You don't HAVE to do the line and there is even an option to skip it at one point, but I highly recommend that you do it at least once. You get great loot for your level and some awesome XP.
--Quests are everywhere in the game. Grab them, do them, level like crazy.
--Watch Zoopy's videos on how the Combo System works as well as how to use your shields/defense. This is what sets the combat in this game apart from any other MMO you've tried and can be fairly deep as you level up just due to the options you have at your command. If you are unsure on how it all works, please speak up as it will seriously effect your enjoyment of the game if you aren't comfortable with it.
--On PvP servers, the town of Tortage and the surrounding wilderness are PvP free zones. You can't attack anyone and they can't attack you. However, outside of the Inn's and the single player game, all instances are PvP enabled. White Sands, The Undercity and the Ruins are all PvP zones, so go with friends and watch your back.
--Split up your chat screens. You can create new tabs and detach them if you like. Right click on each tab to bring up a list of options.
--Seriously look over your Interface Options screen. Some things to check under "Names:" are Show Vicinity Player Names and everything else that has "Player" with it. Switch the "Show Vicinity Names" drop down to "All". This will allow you to see player names and info on everyone.
The default is only set to Hostile.
--You can bypass the Cut Scenes if you like. (IE: the Beach scene at the beginning of the game. Though this doesn't effect any of the quest giver scenes.) To do so, click on "Advanced" under your Interface Options and switch the "Cutscene Mode" to your choice. I like the "Ask Me" option as you get a little pop up each time a cut scene would play asking if you want to watch it.
***The banker and Auction house are both accessed through the "Traders" you see in game. Both are FUBAR at the moment so don't worry if you can't click on them.
--Once you leave Tortage you are sent to the main city/zone of your race. However you can travel back to Tortage and any other main city by boat. So don't worry if you are of a different race than your friends/Focused members. It's pretty easy to hook back up once you leave.
Feats and Attributes:
--You have access to your Feat trees at level 10. Hitting "N" will bring them up. Hitting "B" will bring up a list of your current Combo's and Abilities.
--Attributes and Skills are brought up by hitting "P".
--You get attribute points each level and new skills to put them in as you level up. Some classes get skills earlier than others depending on if those skills are class related or not. (IE: Rogue classes get Hide right away, Solider and Mages get it later.) You do NOT have to use up your attribute or Feat points each level.
--You can respec your Feats and Attributes at the Trainers for money. The cost rises each time you use a respec.
I'll add more as I think of it but I'm tired and my pillow is taunting me. Hope this helps a bit.
