Well, after some serious back and forth and trying to take everyone's opinion into account, we've settled on a name and got the guild up and running.
The name we chose is: Revenant
The reason behind this is because we wanted a "neutral" name and one that fit within the lore of the game.
Now, to be clear, I'm as proud of this community and its members as anyone here. But in fitting in with the game and all the people we play with, Zoopy and I just felt it would make more sense to steer away from anything with "Focused" in the title.
The facts are this; Everyone is welcome in our guild regardless on what community they call home. We saw no reason to make anyone feel like they had to choose one or the other in order to play with their friends.
Because, bottom line, this is all about having fun. If you aren't having fun, then you have no business playing the game or being in our guild. I'm all about promoting Focused Gaming and we're still able to do that by steering new members to our community and forums. We don't have to call ourselves "Focused" to promote the community or our playstyle. Personally I feel we can do honor to both regardless on what our guild name is.
Our plan is to have Revenant become a laid back group that watches out for it's own and brings the pain whenever needed. But make no mistake, the first rule of business is to have fun. We have no class restrictions and we fully expect people to play what they enjoy. If we end up being a guild full of Barbarians, cool. As long as we're all enjoying being Barbarians then no worries. We can always recruit people to fill in the other classes without worrying about people playing for need instead of fun.
If you play something you enjoy, you'll play the game longer and be more involved in what's going on. Which is what we want for everyone.
We're going to be a mix of hardcore and casual. We'll be active in raiding and PvPing but there are no requirements on either.
I know we're going to have some that are balls out, pedal to the metal chew up as much content and levels as possible. People that know every nook and cranny of the world and how best to max their characters. We'll also have people that move at their own pace, play when they can and have 8 different alts.
All of that is fine and what's makes a guild become a living breathing community. The only thing we won't tolerate is the forming of clique's. It seems to happen in every game and every guild of any size but if we all make the effort, we can learn to avoid it.
No group is better than the other in Revenant, at least not on my watch.
For joining purposes, find either Zoopy or myself in game and we'll get you set up. Once we get all current members in the guild, we'll see where we stand and then focus on recruiting. We'll post up how we're going to use our ranks and how we want recruiting to work, but for now if you have played with any cool people that seem like they would fit in with our mindset, post up their names and point them to the community so they can introduce themselves. Just have they say who recommened them and we'll go from there.
For now though, Welcome to the Guild, everyone!
It should be one hell of a ride.
