Just in case this happens to anyone else, i found a solution.

Today my mini map suddenly stopped following me around. My location was not displayed on the mini-map at all. This made it extremely frustrating to get anything done.

Here is how I resolved it:

1. Click the small down arrow next to your minimap
2. Click the quest items tab.
3. Double check and make sure that its on. Once it is enabled, the map issue was resolved.

Weird...
