First Impressions of AoC
These are opinions, so don't argue with people please.
My First Impressions
Character Creations: A nice array of choices lets you build a character to your desire, ranging from height and build, to the size of your butt. though they could have allowed more details for tattoos and such but that is minor.
Newbie Area: Jumping you right into fighting this games hits the ground running. freeing a stripper, killing tribal's and a fat guy who deserves to be killed just for talking. You get a quick feel for the game but even if you don't it does offer a tutorial guides. NPC combat remains a stand and click affair for the most part
Newbie Town: The map is overly complicated and doesn't give the best of directions. However with so few places to go you should memorize it all fairly quickly. Questing ranges from easy to Don't bother without a group.
Classes: Some classes are clearly stronger off the Start, like most MMO's. the Draw back for most is it becomes tiresome to die over and over trying to complete a task some other class walked through without taking a scratch. I've only played a Necro at this point so I have to try other classes before getting an idea of the overall feel for these.
Sum up: At this point I've yet to be captivated by this game, decent graphics, good character editor. Yet somehow it all feels the same as other mmo's to me, I kept getting the feeling that this was just a better version of Guild Wars. Maybe once I find a class I enjoy and have people I can play with I'll get a better feel. But again, I havnt gotten to play all that much. Till then this game only gets a B- from me.

Seancho,
I am very low level (16th I think), so if you are around there we can team up. I have lagged well behind the rest of the group due to RL issues..so I am always up for some group action..(not like that you freaks!)
Give me a shout when you are on..in game name Erlan.

Seancho, it might help if we know what type of classes you like to play or how you like to play in an MMO.
We've got a pretty wide range of classes covered, so if you give us a little more information, we might be able to steer you in the right direction, class wise.

I'll be blunt, im retarded when it comes to caster classes, always have been. Im horrible at stealth. in the end I always end up Fighters, warriors, barbarians, monks etc etc.
so im guessing i'll try out Barbarian as I said. problem is, I'm waiting on my friend to get his copy, so going past lvl 10 right now isnt possible for me. true he'll level past me in a day and never look back but oh well. We'll see, I got nothing but time to try and find something more to my liking.

Casters are preaty typical to the MMO norm in terms of their playstyles. Maybe you should try a melee class, probably a Soldier archtype since they don't rely on Stealth as much as the Rouge archtype.

Barbs are about stealth. So you might wanna go conq or guardian as those are the main fighter classes.
You can level up to 20 in no time at all so you might as well as level up and then start another character to see which you like best. If you can get them all to the 15-20 range or atleast a few of them you can then start a new one with your friend and when he gets to 15-20 just swap to which ever class you are having the most fun at.
I am a barb right now, bez stance due to the 2nd stuns and cc abilities.

Second Thoughts:
So I made a Guardian class chick named Magila *Mag, Ila* not Magilla the Gorilla you apes..
My first impression was, oo look, I gots a club instead of a broken bottle. But playing took it a step further then it did with the Necro, having to watch my targets shielded area's *thanks Zoopy* made combat more strategical. Combo's were easy to pull off and Fatalities were rewarding specticals of gore. This peeked my interest further into the game then the previous times. After a quick romp then ganked in the white sands the others suggested doing to the city missions first, sure enough this was much more fun then dieing to some idiot who can stealth up and stab my oversized ghetto booty.
So I've changed my score from a B- to a A-. pretty good. not great. we'll see how it goes once I get further.

Maybe its because I'm older then I was when I first started playing MMORPG's Just finding it Hard to want to play. My friend is on the other side of the world because I'm cimmarian and he's stygian so we don't even quest together. I find it annoying to have to watch my back every time I see another person because they all seem to have a hardon for killing someone fighting other creatures. Must be the gator skinned thong I'm wearing.
Sad to say this game will not last for me as long as I had wished it would. But as I said, it's probably me. I used to sit for hours in Everquest or WoW and just play, even if it was mindless grinding. But with AoC, I just get bored. I'm way more of a Social gamer then a fly solo, pvp addicted misanthropic gamer. Not saying any of you are who enjoy the game. I just know with games like Fallout 3, Spore & Blood-blow, I honestly won't want to sit and play AoC. So I'll give it a bit longer then probably quit, making sure to sell off my stuff and put the money in the guild bank of course.
Good game, just not my kind of game anymore.
