Default DICE Dev - John Hargelid - Interviewed at Planet Battlefield

Get the full story here.

Interview starts at 37:25. Highlights include a segment wherein John tells interviewers that they have plans to make a big community announcement on Monday, BF2's 3rd year anniversary, also hinting at the possibility of a new patch + map updates. Also mentions made with regard to the "Frostbite" engine making its way over to the PC platform (BF3?).

While I don't have my hopes up for any spectacular changes to the status quo, it is a welcome breakthrough over the virtual silence that we've had from EA/DICE regarding this franchise over the last year or so.

Oh, and errmm..... That should read "DICE Dev". The Spelling & Grammar Nazi hates not being able to edit his mistakes in the thread title.

Well heres an announcement, its not very big. All it says is a patch is coming for bf2, no details or time.

lol.. any of you with consoles plan on getting Bad Company? It shipped today.

After all the clips/ads I have seen.. It looks like they are moving the games story even more in the trend of the companies .. / the world wide attitude.. "Assholes rule, All about me, Forget the rest of the team, Screw the little guy, It is all about the money in my pocket."

Crap, I resemble that remark. :P

I played a bit of ModernCombat on the PS2 when it shipped, was quite fun beating up on the little kids and my friends ..who still wont load a game on their PCs.

Over all I really dont trust EA in general anymore .. Cant believe we got burned again with MoHAirborne .. and, I knew better.

I have it preordered for 360, I will probably end up trying it for ten seconds, realize it is still xbox live and just play the single.

MOH:Airborne was a good game but based on any single player game, was way too short. It was only half a game. Shame too as all they needed was a little more mapping. The coding was basically all there already.

I won't spend a single red cent on anything BFxxxx related until I see that EA/Dice are committed to making BF2 the top-shelf game that it should have been. The only thing that saved it for me was the quality of the mods (POE!!), which brought to the table all the things that EA/Dice utterly failed to deliver on - and I didn't purchase BF2 to play the mods.

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out and I do hope that this update is a little more substantial than just a map pack sponsored by "interested third parties".

There was a demo on live for bad company. I played it for a couple minutes but watched it for longer. The destructible environments are very cool, almost everything can be destroyed. Trees come down, craters show up on the ground, buildings still have a frame but the walls are blown out. You can no longer hide from a tank behind a thin metal fence. Hopefully this stuff can be carried over to bf3 whenever that is.

Yeah I played the BFBC demo too and it's pretty awesome. However it's just wrong playing a Battlefield game with a console controller so I'll wait until BF3 is released later this year (same physics engine, apparently).

It's probably just small fixes + a couple new maps. Same thing they did with 2142 recently.
