    Question Will You Buy MW2?

    Quick poll.

In light of the recent bombshell surrounding the lack of dedicated servers, how does this affect your decision to purchase?

I'm not posting to ride the wave of hissy-fits. More as a genuine sense of displeasure at the dumbing down of gaming in general. There are quite a lot of good games coming out in succession around this time and as I mentioned elsewhere, it was almost a relief to be given an excuse to buy one less game.

I'm a big proponent of voting with my wallet and I think every lost sale does have the power to hurt Activision and their silly decision.

If there is a poll option I left out, please let me know.

Yep, because the campaign really is the only thing still worth it for me. The MW 1 was pretty good so I'm looking forward to MW 2s one.
Oh and change my vote to the last option please

think you missed one if i read them right...

"Was going to buy PC and still will"

Im really torn. I really loved the first one, SP and MP. Im sure ill love the SP in the 2nd and id prolly have fun with the spec ops mode too. Id play MP too but the lack of dedicated servers mean we all cant play together so thats kinda dick. The only reason i prolly wont get it is cuz its $60(!) and i have too much other shit to buy. I dont pirate, only because its against my religion and im not going to be a part of the fall of pc gaming if and when it happens.

Ill get it if i get a gift card for my birthday next week.

Total dissapointment..lame ass IW has killed themselves hopefully. If 50,000 gamers actually "do" end up NOT buying it, that is roughly $3M loss..

I had prebought, but took my receipt back and got my $64 back.

Added. It never occurred to me that anyone here would still buy it considering the circumstances.

I have a different attitude to you in this regard. If you give me what I want at a reasonable price and in the format I want, I'll buy it no questions asked. In addition, I'll stay loyal to your product and keep coming back for more.

Exceptions to this rule are companies who develop contempt for their customers. A good example is the music, movie and TV industries who are still in a state of shock when it comes to digital delivery.

I have never pirated a computer game simply because almost all of the games I buy are reasonably priced and give me good longevity and value for money. They give me good value, an easy purchase model (Steam) and thanks to this community, a way for me to enjoy them for more hours than I would on my own. This good value is being demolished by Activision in favour of quick thrills for the individual casual gamer.

Good luck to them, but they won't get my money anymore. In fact, I may even decide to "try" out the element of their game that I might like and dispose of the rest. $60+ for a game that lasts 6-8 hours isn't anywhere near up to par with other purchases I've made such as BFx, TF2, L4D and the rest.

I'll give you another example: The upcoming Nook from Barnes & Noble. I held off on the Kindle to give the product a chance to mature and along came the Nook, which seems to offer me exactly what I want from an eReader. Guess what? I can't buy any of their eBooks in Australia due to regional publisher licensing restrictions. I am a guy who would probably spend at least $300 per year on books and they can't even capitalise on my business because they can't get their heads out of their arses for long enough to take my money. So guess what? I'll buy their Nook and torrent the shit out of books that I would normally buy online. They make one low-margin hardware sale instead of indefinite high-margin software sales.

    Stupid, stupid, stupid.

    Rant over.

I will most likely cancel my pre-order, unless dedicated server support is given by release, or in a "update". At this current moment, I'm canceling.

Bomm said it. If I can have hundreds of hours of fun on a game I've spent only 40 euros on (Battlefield 2142, Armed Assault) I am not going to spend 60 euros on a game where I would probably only play the SP from. If they'll fix the multiplayer, it will probably mean I could play it for another 150 hours and after that, there used to be mods, but IW decided they'd remove modability as well.
I feel like developers like this cause the fall of PC gaming, not people like us who pirate their games because they're ruining them. It's all about action and consequence.

Unfortunately my box does not have the capabilities to run the game (well really any game atm), so I have never had any choice but to purchase it for the console, and since I have always been dealing with the crappy match making system, I see no reason not to buy the game and continue to bitch to my friends about it as I'm playing it.
