Secondary Weapon
Just curious to see what the MW2 players like to use usually as their secondary weapons in MW2. At first I liked the PP2000, but I'm starting to enjoy the Magnum, since it never takes more than 3 shots to down a guy - reminds me of the deagle from CoD4. I use a shotgun on one kit and I'm waiting to unlock the M1014 (loved it in CoD4 and although all the other good things in CoD4 have been nerfed, its stats look sexy) although I'm enjoying the automatic shotgun for now. That thing is just ridiculous, although the lack of bullets is annoying. I didn't actually realise it was an automatic shotgun until I read it in the description after already having got the red dot sight and silencer....
Anywhoo I'm curious to see what you other players use, since I can't really see past the Magnum...

i usually use the striker on my CQC kit since its where i find the most kinfers and its a one shot kill on point blank or a hs.
On maps with not much air cover i run with a stinger w/ cold blooded for the inevitable air assets.
On my assault kit i run usp. Great pistol. Very accurate and good punch. Shoots as fast as you can click. I take out a good number of dudes either from last stand or just from switching to it instead of reloading in fights. I also use a silenced usp on my stealth kit. Magnum is great if youre accurate but im not so i can miss a few with the usp and still kill someone since it shoots faster and has more rounds per mag
On my blow shit up kit i run thumper for obvious reasons

I too am a striker fan, yet I tend to drop it for the first assault weapon I can find.
I have the Thumper on the kit with Scavenger and the ACR w/ GL... endless amounts of explosions to make the campers cry.

I tried the USP yesterday since I had heard good things, but there's something about it I just couldn't get used to. I'm sticking with the Mangum for now, 6 shots (plus a knife) is more than enough to down 2 dudes for me, and if you're taking on more than that with a pistol at one time you will inevitably lose.
I didn't like the Striker when I tried it in the SP Campaign (which is weird because they drop like flies in the SP) so, like the USP, I only tried it yesterday. It's pretty good, but I don't see any significant advantages over the Automatic shotgun, plus the automatic shotgun is...automatic .
I like the Stinger w/cold-blooded, but I'm waiting to unlock the Javelin...that thing is a beast.
Thumper is too similar to nootube for me to have any self-respect while using it .
So no machine pistol users? I'm curious as to why, since it pretty much gives you an SMG on top of your primary weapon, which is useful to say the least..Any reason, or just prefer other things?

well see thats the great thing about the game, every weapon is useful to someone. It all depends on what your strentghs are and what you like to use.
the auto shotty is great, but the downside is you burn through the mag in like a second. Striker is semi-auto with more slugs per mag so you can fire as fast as the auto if youre quick enough and have more then enough ammo to kill 2+ dudes. The downside is its horrendous reload time.
Javelin is ok. I thought i would use it on the ground more often but its too unreliable. The animation when you take it out is SLLOOOWWW. Plus it only has one round so you pretty much have to run scavenge with it or OMA if youre into that. Stinger is faster to come out than jav and it has 2 rounds. This is pretty important when it comes to the pave low and chopper gunner. Since they both have 2 sets of flares, the third shot at it will hit it. Ill immediately shoot 2 shots (sometimes downing it if im lucky) all it takes is hopefully someone else shooting one round at it and its down before it does any damage.
I use machine pistols on my sniper but since i barely snipe since i suck at it, i dont use em. that said, akimbo g18's are the bane of my existence I might try em on my stealth build once i get a silencer on one of em.

Ooooohh, didn't know Javelin had only one shot...that is pretty sucky actually.
And yh I pretty much agree with the rest of your post, auto shotty does burn through mags, but nothing like spamming a corner where you know someone is with an automatic shotgun barrage . And Striker's reload time is annoying, but I run Sleight of hand on almost every kit.
And I'm not sure how much I like the G18, when yo shoot it the fire rate almost makes you piss your pants, but after a while the recoil got very annoying (harder to pull down shots against the recoil on a PS3 controller too) so I left it. M93 Raffica is 3-shot, which I just do not like in a machine pistol (which are meant to be spray-and-pray guns), and the TMP is weaker in terms of power and doesn't offer enough of a fire-rate boost over the PP2000, which is why I like the PP2000 the best out of the machine pistols.

I use different secondaries depending on the situation:
Riot Shield, I take USP. It whips out so fast that I can reliably win mid range engagements when my opponent reloads or is distracted.
Close Combat, Akimbo Rangers. Incredible. Will add 1887's once I get them.
Cold Blooded, Javelin. For taking out air support.
Marathon/Lightweight, USP+TacKnife. Knifer kit.

They definitely are fun to shoot, and devastating, but if you like these you may want to try out Akimbo Magnums, except only difference is you must shoot both guns instead of one at a time, and stopping power is handy. If you have stopping power and are within Ranger range (and even a bit further) you will never need more than 2 bullets to down a single enemy (without stopping power you'll never need more than 3) and for the hassle of pressing 2 buttons instead of one you get a faster reload and quicker draw time (don't quote me, both of these are based on anecdotal evidence alone, and not 100% sure) and a much larger clip (6 per gun instead of 2).
