I've been looking at all of the smartphones lately. Still haven't seen anything which can match the iPhone when it comes to ease of input, ease of full HTML browsing, speed, and general aimlessness of experience. I haven't had the opportunity to use this device, however.
The iPhone is extremely expensive though - $200 up front + $90/month for unlimited texting + 450 minutes! For anyone too lazy to do the match, that's $1180/year.

Well that's why I got lucky. For me, the iPhone only costs $30/month. I still have unlimited data and only 200 text messages, but because of the family share plan my voice line only costs $10/month. And the new 3G iPhone I don't like as much because of the styling. I liked the metal back that was silver. Now it's either black or white, and I don't like that very much.

And the iPhone 3G is an overhyped piece of garbage.
The phones are cracking.
The software sucks. Frequent crashes and lockups, ridiculous sync times. The app store is fundamentally crippled and pathetic unless you jailbreak your phone (and risk Apple bricking it every time you update the firmware), slow and laggy interface.
MobileMe still doesn't work.
And last but not least, the phone's radio sucks. You know, that part which makes it a phone. It has the worst antenna of any phone on the market. Which means the phone has to drive its antenna at full power, which means terrible reception, limited battery life and it cooks your brain.
And for some reason Apple picks the worst carriers. In Canada, it's Rogers. Rogers couldn't pay me to go back to them. Meanwhile I'll enjoy my $7/mo unlimited wireless internet from Bell.

Actually, jep, the iPhone is fantastic. I can understand your dislike of Rogers, but that doesn't make the phone a bad device.

Rogers is horrendous. I use them for cable inet as well as blackberry service for my business. I have a little hate shrine set up with ted rogers picture as the centerpiece. Why don't I switch? Well I don't think any of the other innovation stifling, feature castrating, ripoff artist companies posing as "mobile service providers" in Canada are really any better.

True story:
1996 or so, I move into a new apartment. It has a cable connection in the living room with a splitter on it, leading to a connection in the bedroom. The cable is working fine when I move in, but I call Rogers to put it in my name. A few days later, a technician shows up at the apartment, looks behind the working TV, cuts the cable off at the splitter, puts on a new end, screws it into the TV in place of the former working connection and leaves. This was their standard $50 installation, which is impossible to avoid.
Surely for $50 he could have at least kicked me in the nuts on the way out.
I moved 3 times in 3 years and paid that charge each time.
Sorry for the OT post.
