Default Horizontal Screen Movement - Yahoo/Google?!

Here's an odd one: the lower half of my screen moves horizontally when I bring up a search link in either Yahoo or Google. The lower quarter or half of the screen will move from side to side. It does not do it on other websites nor when I'm in game.

Change a setting on the monitor, video card? Call a priest?

I choose option 4, less hard liquor and/or ganja.

uh... are you talking about a shimmering like a strange monitor behaviour, or the image drawn on the screen moving like software is doing it? Also, is it the entire screen or only the browser? Is it brief, or is it constant?

And... are we talking about a DVI or VGA connection?

CRT's do that. LCD's dont' from what I've experienced. It's not so much the bringing up a search link but more all the white on the google home page. It expands the phosphors a bit.

Seems to move like it's on the monitor side (have an LCD). Sort of like what Bhack mentioned as it moves when there is alot of white in the back ground (not a CRT though) as it does not occur on the vast majority of websites. Happens on the entire screen, as if the bottom quarter of the screen is moving back and forth. It's constant. Believe it's a DVI connection, it's the larger size.

Not sure if it's video card related as I just had mine changed out under warranty (same model was replaced). In relation to the mentioned problem, when playing TF2 (not on my other games, another strange occurrence), there are small blue dots all over the screen (that issue comes and goes). I did download load the latest drivers.

No, when it happens I'm not drunk or high I'll see if the problem if ongoing but it seems sort of odd that I'm only getting it to occur on two websites and one game.

No. If it's the video card wouldn't this occur on all sites or all my games?

I suspect the newly-replaced video card. If not that, then perhaps your power supply is what caused your old video card to die, and it is also responsible for what you are now seeing.

But first, check your connections. Make sure you are using DVI! Make sure your cables are properly connected at each end. And finally, make sure your supply power to your video card is good.

Ok. Any recommendations on a quality power supply? Seems like the one I have is model #kind-of-adequate for a $2000 PC.

Do more experiments before you run off and replace your PS. I'm GUESSING at the cause.

You could (with help from someone):
    1. Use a different cable
    2. Connect a different monitor
    3. Connect a different PS
    4. Put in a different video card

The thing is, if you are seeing this now for the first time, it would seem most likely that it is the vid card or the cable. Otherwise, the PS is always a suspect when things work, but work strangely. The LCD input is surely depending on precise signaling, but I think that is less likely the problem if you are using DVI.
