So I just watched the season 2 finale of Breaking Bad. Personally, I thought it was a horrible ending to an otherwise really amazing TV show. Anyone else agree?
Obviously, the ending had gigantic religious overtones. Its obviously pretty implausible that the father of Walt's partner's girlfriend would be too stressed out to do his air traffic controller job and two planes would suddenly crash into eachother right over the top of Walt right after his argument with Skyler. That simply does not happen in the real world. Now of course, this is TV--shit doesnt normally go down like it does in the real world. However, the entire show had been deeply rooted in realism, science, and consequence. The show was definitely geared towards a certain demographic.
By having this ridiculous ending that doesnt make any sense in the real world, the writers are basically telling the viewer that if you rely too much on science, inevitably God will strike you down. And to that, I say fuck you Vince Gilligan.
