Frontpage News Items

Is there anyway I can remove or limit the amount of news items on my homepage? They seem to pile up instead of overwriting each other. Even if I minimize them they still come up as full when I reload the page.

You can't edit it individually unfortunately, I can only do it from the back end.

Do you want to limit them because you have to scroll down to recent posts? Any other reason?

How many appear on the page? I still have the first news item on my Homepage.

It's currently set to 5 news items before they drop off. I have been considering 3 as an option. If anyone feels like they prefer a certain number, post here.

2 is good enough for me. I've had the habit to check the last posts (below the news items) recently, so with 3+ news items, I have to scroll down way too far.

Can we get the banner images in the news items shrunk down? I like having images in there to break up all the text but I think something the size of a desktop icon (inline with the news text) would be just as effective without taking up so much space.

See, I disagree with pretty much all of the above posts. The front page is supposed to be about community news, server stats and the like.

It is your portal to the rest of the site so its main function shouldn't just be an easy way to catch a quick look at recent posts.

Yes, that should be an aspect to it, but the front page is an intro into what's going on, who we are and ways to better check out what we have to offer.

If you just want to look at the forum, set up a seperate link to it and stop being so damn lazy!!! (Or we could use forumspy similar to what TG has so the most recent posts are in a side bar to the news items and not at the bottom?)

But seriously, I think it's fine as is and wouldn't change much, if anything. The only things I would change is to maybe drop the news items to 3 or 4 and possibly use Hidus's suggestion and shrink the banner images a bit, but even that shouldn't be much.

One question is when the news items do come off the page, are they still linked on the main site ala a "Recent News" section?

Less would be much better. It is a long way to scroll to get down to the new posts.
