Talking Our Server's Looking Good!

I just thought I'd point out a screenshot I took of the server browser at 3:30AM EDT. Our server has been populated for 48 hours solid now, with no crashes in that time. We're going from strength to strength and people have commented on the quality of play even without built-in VOIP.

The servers are sorted by pop, with everything below the 0 line being empty. We're fast becoming a 24/7 destination for FFoW junkies

I've also been happy to see new visitors to the forums and TeamSpeak every day.

I just can't wait for VOIP and a better browser.

What it does show however is that KAOS better get their act together real soon with their server offerings and bug fixes, because if that's the total pop at that time, the community has a long way to grow.

Absolutely.

I noticed that too. We have a really visible draw right now.

LOVE it!

Bommando, have you heard antything from mitch/Kaos about the ability to reserve slots with the dedicated server files , so you can implement the same system you have with the TF2 server? a.k.a reserverd slots for subscribers?

Right now, Rex from KAOS is working on more useful RCon tools and I'd say he has his hands full just offering the basics, so reserved slots may be low on their list of priorities. That doesn't mean we won't have a go at programming them in ourselves however

The first step will be if they introduce a unique ID, which they are missing right now.

I'll keep everyone in touch with progress on improved tools as well as our own internal work.

Well assuming they get punkbuster running properly in the game (i.e.: not just running in the background doing nothing) then I'm assuming that it will give players GUID numbers.

In the meantime, if you need a slot just ask over TS. We can make room if necessary.

In addition to having a steady stream of FFoW players, I've noticed that the quality of players are increasing. I seem to get bumped out of the #1 slot more often and having to settle for #2 player each game.

At first it was the most populated/best ping, then I figured out who was running it, so I don't really bother to go anywhere else now. Late night pacific time has been a blast.

I agree... the quality of play is getting better. People are starting to figure things out.

Now we need to provide some more squads and start inviting regulars into them to increase the teamwork.

Nice job!
