Default A couple of friendly pointers

Just a reminder to newer players, be sure to have your map fixed in your options. As we continue to learn the maps it's imperative that you have your mapped fixed. The default is set on rotation. FFOW's squad marker/attack orders or waypoint is horrible until they get it fixed so you have to rely on your squad leader's orders over teamspeak. When I squadlead, I call my flags based on the front line. It's easy after awile, since there's only 2-3 points on the frontline: West, center, east. Try to practice on being aware of where you are on the map. I may mix it up by indicating where we are attacking from (e.g. "take the west flag from the north or from the south") but otherwise I try to keep it simple. I found this the most helpful since its fairly easy even when you're in the thick of it.

On the subject of Teamspeak- since there's no in-game voip, we're relying on TS to give order and communicate with each other to stay alive. Try to keep chatter to a minimum, especially if you're on the main game channel with a lot of other players.

If the main channel is gonna be cranky pants, I think I'll avoid TS. I'd rather play in solitude than with a bunch of librarians. :P

Just thought of a good pointer. If you play drone tech, after you've deployed your techs on flat ground, immediately switch back to character and find a place where you can crouch using drones under better cover. In other words, you don't need to remain in the same spot after you've deployed a drone. Another tip, if you're being chased by the red star rover, just climb or go somewhere that the car can't.

This would look great in the Tips & Tricks thread.

A pet peave of mine is to hear non-stop chatter in TS. If there are multiple people on playing on different sides, then join the appropriate squad channels.

You can set up keybinds to switch channels in TS without having to Alt/Tab out of the game... I set up a keybind for each squad channel as well as the main FFOW channel to save time and frustration.

I agree, this should be in T&T, but lets leave this thread open for discussion for a bit please.
In general over the last two weeks we have started playing this new game and getting tons of new faces on the server. And many new play styles.

I really believe that situational awareness is what keeps me alive and contact reports from friendlies is the best weapon for staying alive.
When giving contact reports it is best to give directions from a landmark that everyone knows.. The CP the squad is attacking /defending is the best landmark because everyone is near/around it.
I agree that everyone needs to know which way is up, north.
If you have to take a small piece of paper and tape it on the top right corner of the monitor with NEWS (north east west south) written on it.

---North---
West-|-East
---South---

Our point is that, as I have said something about it in TS a couple times, if two people are chatting about other than "in-game sitreps" the people who would be giving one cant because of the chatter.
Dont think we or I am picking on you.. I have had this very discussion with other gaming groups.
We all enjoy a bit of ribbing during game.. kind of the point of playing with friends.. enjoyment.
That is fine.. It is the on going discussions that is the problem.
That is what we have forums for.. or talk in the lobby or other empty channel.
I want to hear your sitreps, Dug.. but I cant hear your sitreps if someone else is talking about another game or the new boy band on the radio.
Get my point?

I run from drones all the time.. I try and drag them back towards my EMP stick. I just wish it was as easy to kick over an enemy drone as it is to kick over Boms :P

I also notice most Drone techs use the recon as a floating grenade instead of letting their team use the UAV given off by the drone. If you just let it hover in a safe place it gives your team "eyes up" while your next one recharges, then use the one you have up to go kill someone.
