I can't imagine how painful this result is for the software designers who spent insane numbers of hours working on it. Somewhere, there is a guy who is saying "In 6 weeks, I could have put in the features which the players wanted, but my boss said we'd do it after release".
Even that would have been okay... but they never did. FFOW's failure is just an obvious side-effect of game publishers' current obsession with consoles.

LOL.. But have we really learned?
I have, I will not buy a new game on release again.. never.. ever.. eh, well maybe "episode 3".
I pre-ordered this one, CE even.. and I was part of the hype bandwagon.. and as as tester was totally under the impression they were going to put out a quality game.. each of the 6 beta releases fixed so much... but needed more, so much more.

Yes, based on the beta you could swear this game is going in the right direction. Very responsive forum with Kaos interacting well and addressing problems. Once release hit they completely dropped the PC support for some reason.

Oh but they haven't. They just released a bunch of new upcoming patch notes, a roadmap for the future, and just today, an annoucement they are about to release a demo.

But, looking at the patch notes, it's obvious they have one guy working part time on this game. Still no VOIP.

Ya, I didn't mean that they did. The guy who was saying that was told to go work on something new, and got to watch helplessly as all of his hard work went to waste over a stupid arbitrary deadline.

Well I wouldn't say all their hard work, the game still exists on the XBox 360. I wonder how well it's doing there. I kind of hope that it is doing poorly though, they completely sacrificed the PC release for the console, and if the console does okay and the PC poorly, I'm afraid that it'll serve as justification in the mind of some retarded exec in the publishing company for their decision to abandon the PC. The death of PC gaming could be a self-fulfilling prophecy if too many PC releases are as badly bungled as FFOW's was.
