Anyone tried out this gun? I figured id end up preferring the assault rifle like I do in most any other game, but the SMG in this game rocks balls. Its awesome at short to medium range, and can kill a still person at long range. The recoil is relatively small, and the damage is pretty decent. Although it kinda sucks that you dont get nades or a grenade launcher, the gun is significantly better than the assault rifle imo.

Cool thing happened with it in street. I was on the team whose base is in the south. I defended the western base by getting on some debris and going prone. In the first minute, 2 guys round the corner and I take them both down with the SMG. I see another, so i call in an airstrike which somehow ends up killing 2 people. Then 3 people come out, seek cover in some debris only to be hit by my cluster bombs. It was so hot.

I would agree. I've been using that and the support weapon almost exclusively now, with a little sniping mixed in.

My favorite moment was when I was taking my RC drone against this poor sob who was trying so very hard to kill it as I weaved it back and forth finally exploding it at his feet. And who was this poor bastard? Oh, that's right is was -TG7- Santa killed by UNNAMED4. I think I got you another time with my helicopter drone also, but I'm not sure on that kill.

The drones are the best thing to hit gaming in a long time - I just love them.

I find the drones difficult to use with my current FPS, especially the helicopter ones and the very fast track based one. The assault drone with the minigun on it is sexy though.

The minigun drone is sexy, but the rocket drone kinda sucks. You have to be ridiculously close to hit with them, they fire slowly and do very little damage. It's easier to kill people with the normal helidrone by just ramming them and detonating it.

I tried the SMG yesterday... it is way better than the assault rifle at close ranges, but at longer ranges the assault rifle is much better. Street is almost too small to really use the assault rifle effectively... try it on oilfield.

I find the sniper rifle is over powered, no recoil and your aiming cursor zones in way to fast, I can pick off 4 or 5 people before anyone knows where I'm at. But the drones are awesome, I only have gotten to the rocket copter, what class gets the minigun copter?

Ive been able to outmatch snipers at close range with the SMG, medium range with the assault rifle, but im unable to account for them at distance. That seems like how it ought to be. This is why i really like the weapon balance in this game because since each weapon is exceptional at a certain distance, youll need varying guns within the same squad.

I tried out the drones again, and finally realized you can use them in 1st person view. Makes it a LOT easier. Flying those helicopters in 3rd person is like trying to fly the BF2 choppers in 3rd person. As soon as you take off you are somehow inverted, running into everything, and somehow manage to team kill 3 of your teammates.

Has anyone tried using the grenade launcher and the mounted grenade launcher? Theyre horrible in this game. You pretty much have to have the grenade hit directly on the player to score a kill, which completely renders them useless. Id rather shoot my gun to kill someone, which shoots straight, rather than shoot something that curves. It needs more of a blast radius to be worth using. I bet they were overcompensating since BF2s grenade launcher was a bit too good, but all they needed to do is set a 30 m arming distance. Nobody complained about it at range, only when people would shoot at their feet and get kills that way.

Wish I could have had a video of this, I was prone with a sniper, and an enemy was completly still, shot him directly 3 times in the face, no kill, not even an indicator that I hit him.

I've had this happen to me a few times with other weapons also. It seemed like clipping issues in the rendering engine or some sort of latency issue on the server.

I read on their forums that this happens in certain parts of the map, and the problem is that the server (or whatever is in charge of this) thinks your crosshair is someplace other than where it is on your screen.

Curious, what kind of FPS are yall getting? Mine is pretty shitty, anywhere from 11-25. Im hoping theyll optimize it further so i can increase that number a bit.
