Default FFOW Tips and Tricks

Post any useful information you've come across in the Frontlines beta here.
  • If you right click while flying the recon drone, it will stay hovering where it was and you will return to your soldier. This way you can move up with your squad and still provide the drone spotting.
  • With the Assault kit grenade launcher you can use right click to air burst your grenades. The longer you hold right click the longer the fuse on the grenade is (thus the farther it will go before exploding). Firing the grenade this way causes it to go further then firing it normally since it doesn't fire in as much of an arc.
  • The tier 3 EMP upgrade (emp stick) disables all vehicles in its radius, but does not disable the vehicles turret and firing. You also cannot put an airstrike in the EMP stick's radius, this makes it very useful on infantry maps where airstrikes are very devastating.

I found that when you die with the spec ops kit your C4 doesn't disappear. Spawn back in and you can still detonate it.

really? I found the opposite - when you die, the C4 explodes in a big fireball... the weird thing was that it doesn't do ANY damage? hmmmmm

Tested twice, worked both times. Not sure if it does any damage - but you can definitely detonate it yourself.

- Airburst grenades can be bounced off walls/around corners before they detonate

- Targeting airstrikes is a whole lot easier especially at long ranges if you scope in using your rifle, hold your mouse still, press your airstrike key to switch to binocs then click to place it. It will land exactly where you had scoped into with your rifle.

Yeah it *really* increases the effectiveness of those long range airstrikes, particularly the precision strike.

- Another tip, if you are in the secondary seat of vehicles (I know this works for tanks and heli for sure) you can move your mouse over enemy targets and click your middle mouse button to "paint" them. It puts a red triangle on top of them just like the recon drone and makes it easy for your pilot/driver to spot them.

- You can zoom in while in a vehicle by pressing V. This helps particularly when you are trying to pick off infantry at long range.

Are you aware that when you have the airstrike binocs out right clicking zooms?

yeah, but with no depth perception, the target-indicator thingy can be a little hard to line up - especially when you're at the same elevation as the target and they're far away.

Yea, I agree. But they did provide the binocs with three levels of zoom, so when that happens I just zoom out.
