Nemesis > Vista

You lose! Good day sir!

Seems they have a Fix in the works. So hopefully this won't be a major issue.

I just find it odd that they wouldn't test this on a Vista machine.

How long did it take your first launch from Steam? Steam isn't hung, but it seems to be stuck at the Preparing to launch window.

Did you try restarting Steam after the download was done?

No, I fixed it. Had to manually install a DX update. Apparently Steam sometimes hangs trying to do that.

An error such as this is a very, very bad sign on the release of a game. It reeks of rushing to market. Hopefully it's a just a fluke, but either way, that's sloppy, reeeeaaaaaaaal sloppy. As a consultant, I have seen this happen on a much smaller scale i.e. release a new laptop image for a company that won't boot, and it looks really bad. On a scale the size of this distribution? It looks very bad indeed.

Unfortunatly, it's become par for the course in the video game industry.

Especially on the PC side of things. To me, it's pretty obvious that the game was done for the 360 and the PC side wasn't given the same attention.

But hey, that's where the money is now, so it is what it is anymore.

The release was very rushed.

Blizzard doesn't rush to market. If something's not ready, they don't release it. Part of the problem is that consumers continue to buy from the companies that do this. Had I know this, I wouldn't have bought the game, but now I've DL'ed 94% percent of something that will do no more than take up valuable hard drive space until they fix it. Sunza bitches.
