Probably because Blizzards also publishes their games where Kaos is pressured by their publisher (THQ) to release on the expected month.

When you are the little guy you don't get to call the shots. That's just the way it works in business.

When you have 3.5 billion dollars a year in revenue, you get to set your own release schedule.

They didn't always have that kind of revenue. They got huge because they put out a quality, finished product. It's a business model/philosophy that transcends just gaming companies, but unfortunately is not the norm :S You should see the effect of faulty software in the data storage business. It's downright scarey sometimes.

Well for those who have Vista and can't launch:

Some people seem to have success when they disable their sound cards.

well i got to the menu screen by going into the properties then compatibility and then witching it to compatible to Window NT. But when i get to the menu screen i have no cursor...ill try on board sound

EDIT- I took off the compatibilty mode and it works now. It asks you if you want to update the game and gives you a link to that patch for the hard copy but i just cancelled and it worked....now lets see if it KEEPS working...

EDIT2 - Works great now...played through a few SP missions. Overall a lot tighter and more responsive than beta. Even less alaised. Still needs a bit of AA but not as much as beta did. Hopefully MP works.

If you guys found a specific fix that works, can you please post details in a new thread, so people with Vista know what to do?

A summary of the steps you took would be great.
