Server is online and it seems the problems with it dropping off the browser are fixed. Let's see if we can get it populated tonight.

It's running invasion for now, but we can change that later on if we like.

Default FFOW Server Feedback

Now that we have a server to call home.. even with small amount setting changes available.

Might as well start the discussion.
On our first day out the server is hot.

Im not sure if it was just me, but I was seeing some rubberbanding lag by a lot of players.
The map Invasion is a bit small for 64 players, not my favorite map at any size.
maybe Solarfarm or Oilfields would be a better map for so many players.. even Gnaw would be very interesting.
although I would rather see a smaller server running Village / Gnaw / Street and or Mountain top.

All for now

Honestly, I really don't think we expected it to fill up like it did. We just wanted to throw on a fun and popular map to keep things interesting and get a feel for how the server handles. Looks like it worked better than we hoped.

But I agree, since we aren't able to have an auto map change yet, (hopefully that will be fixed ASAP.) we need to keep to the larger maps with a 64 player cap. I highly doubt this will be an issue going forward as again, we didn't expect things to go quite so well less than an hour after putting the server on the list.

I did notice some rubberbanding as well once the load got over 40 players or so, but it wasn't a consistant lag. That map is crazy with all the Helio's, flack and missles so I can see how it would play a part, but it is something that bears watching.

Thanks for the feedback and keep it coming!

From what I have seen so far I think the sweet spot is going to end up being 32 players for maps like Invasion, village, mountaintop, roundabout, etc. Still it's good to test this stuff out so we can all get a feel for how many bodies each of the maps can handle before it starts to get spammy/silly.

Server updated:

1. map cycle implemented - all release maps currently included - maps play for 3 rounds then change to next

2. 150% ticket count set.

3. Player limit of 48 players.

4. Spawn protection of 1 second. No clue if this works though.

Sounds awesome, BHack.

My only suggestion would be to maybe have the maps only play for 2 rounds instead of 3?

Otherwise, I'm just happy we got the map rotation going.

There are a few maps that are no fun at all with 48 players.

One that comes to mind is Village. I can't remember the other one that was ugly... Roundtop maybe?

Honestly, I prefer 32 player games instead of 40+ on just about all of the maps ... but I will put some more milage into the game before making any sweeping critizisms.

Village and Roundabout. They are very tight quarters maps that I feel are meant for 32 players or less (perhaps maybe even 24 players).
