Does anyone else get slapped around by image verification as much as I do? I've been trying to search a forum for like 20 minutes and keep getting thrown back do to the image verification being wrong. I can't tell you how many good tickets I miss out when buying online due to my inability to get past this sadistic arrangement of number and letters.


The only conclusion I can come to is that I am a robot or some sort of cybernetic organism.

I'm the same... those things drive me crazy and it often takes me 2 or 3 tries to get them right.

Heh.. you might see if they have alternate verification methods - sometimes they are noted by a 'wheelchair' symbol (seriously - I'm not being sarcastic or a wise-ass).

I know I hit a button for an alternate method and the result was that a voice read the text aloud so you could type it in.

LOL I always double check to make sure I get those right and the damn thing tells me its wrong and gives me a new pic to try, than fail the new one aswell.

Other times I just dont know what the hell the numbers and letters are.

Hmm, interesting thread actually. I wonder if it's not a case of failing vision, but the way we process the images. The sample image is clear as day for me: fApBA

Most of these are case-sensitive. Could that be it?

I am definitely curious about what causes problems with reading these images, because I've had to use them in the past to prevent spam. If people can't read them, then it's good to know why.

I've been considering reCAPTCHA, which provides more human-readable text, provides an embedded refresh mechanism which doesn't force you to reload the form, adds sound support and actually supports a good cause.
