Default Video Games Live

If any of you haven't been to see Video Games Live, I HIGHLY recommend it. For all those who dont know, they are an orchestra/choir that play video game music. I just saw them last night in NYC and it was an amazing experience.

They play everything from mario and zelda to God of War and Halo. Some of my favorites were Metal Gear Solid, Castlevania, and of course One Winged Angle (Final Fantasy 7). They had a pianist play mario and final fantasy music blindfolded! The dude was insane how fast and accurate he was.

All in all they are amazing and highly recommended to anyone who even remotely likes video game music. If you want a preview, theres tons of user vids on youtube, which is another reason why i like them - They encourage you to tape them and put it up on youtube. If you get a chance, go. Youll love it.

If you're into this kind of stuff, you should check out Tugboat, a guy from NYC who makes original midi compositions.

My favourite is Firecracker Alley, which you may recognise from the awesome video:

Or you can go listen to:

Dr. Wily and the Robotmasters . They are a band that does direct covers of Nintendo songs using actual instruments (not keyboards).

Game Over. They take sections of music from a certain game and compose a song from it about said game (with lyrics and everything).

That's pretty kewl. "Zelda Hyrule's Angel" friggin rocks. The singer has a pretty sick range. I bet this band could do a mean Maiden Cover.

It's amazing, I still see not only 2142, but Battlefield 2 on sale in stores.

In it's time, there was nothing like it.

I never seen someone completely rock on a tomborine before. Bravo, that was excellent.
