Thumbs up GI Joe Movie

So I'm pretty pumped about this movie. I LOVED GI Joe when I was little, and I still tell people that knowing is half the battle.... and everytime i say it I can see Deep Six swimming out into the lake to tell little Timmy not to swim while its lightning.

I think they did a pretty job casting and I like the costumes.

Baroness

Scarlett

Destro

Storm Shadow

Hawk

Duke

Snake Eyes

Too bad it's not going to be good AT all. I love the old cartoon (seeing as how I have a brother who's 29 and the other at 25) and the movie, but then they were A Real American hero. Here, they are no longer that. They are doing to this what they did to Superman Returns: They changed it to He stands for truth, justice, and all that stuff when it should have been He stands for truth, justice, and the American way. All of this promoting world unity bullshit is just a load of crap. This was what they were, and they should stay that way.

By the way, now G.I. Joe is A Real World Fighting Force. That's just not cool.

Yeah, and why is it that there are no more episodes of Looney Toons like this:

Agreed. We don't need this touchy-feely crap towards nations. They bash us, so why can't we?

That's so sad, dude.

I'm not even sure what to say.

BTW, I'm fairly certain Zoopy was being sarcastic.

The Snakeeyes suit is awesome because it's both badass and totally impractical.

A crappy film made by a toy company to sell more toys, with an added touch of jingoism. Count me out.

It's all about hopping on the Comic Bandwagon. If I could travel in time, I would poison Toby Maguire and kidnap Kirsten Dunst to be a sex slave in Eastern Europe -- that way Spiderman would have never happened and we would not be subjected to bland comic book travesties at the Theaters (or in our case, wasting our time downloading them).

As for the Looney Tunes, there's a difference in having a movie be patriotic to one's country and being ignorant against another. Yes, I agree that the whole politically correct "sensitivity" to nations is crap, but I would rather blow up (insert ignorantly vilified country here) without the spreading of obvious racially/cuturally ignorant propaganda to the masses.

Also, Destro looks pimp and any movie is worth watching with Sienna Miller in it. The Alfie remake was total crap, but Sienna Miller made it worth watching.

I mean this movie was quite literally dreamed up by Hasbro to sell more toys and they're public about this it's just mind-blowing to me :/

Havn't heard anything about this one. I love the Public Service Announcement clips people edited for GI Joe.

I agree that we shouldn't spread the propaganda, but that's what made G.I. Joe great: They didn't attack one specific country. Cobra attacked all of the countries, and the Joes had to step in to stop them. It may have been in the US, it may have been somewhere else, but what I'm getting at is, after all these years, they just can't change their slogan and catchphrase. If they want a world fighting force, then change the name of the series. They were a Real American Hero, and they kept the world at bay, which was true back when the show first came out. Now, people would throw a fit if anyone said America was great.
