Let me get this straight. You know for a
fact that in the fraction of a second before the two heads collided Wetherspoon was knocked out? I'll agree that Lapsley landed a punch, but I find it unlikely that anyone could determine conclusively what effect that punch had in that time.
I also have to disagree with the statement that Lapsley was not out. If he didn't lose consciousness, he would have been back on his feet in a second. He came back faster, but his disorientation was very plain to see.
Once the heads smashed together, everything else became irrelevant anyway.
