Default Far Cry 2

So Im sure most of you are aware of this game, but Ubisoft just showed off some new trailers and such for it, but the live gameplay demo just blew me away. If they can pull this off, this will one friggin AMAZING game.

http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/951257...08_052808.html

Heres what theyre promising and so far, looks like theyre delivering -

- 50(!) sq kilometers of totally free game world space that you can go to at anytime. This will put Stalker to shame
- Completely procedural environments. IE real weather - rain, wind, etc. A strong enough wind could rip branches off trees. When you see grass blowing, its not an animation, its because the wind is blowing that way. Fire spreads realistically depending on wind speed and direction. 24hr day/night cycle
- Branching story. Kill a quest giver and youll never see that part of the story. Go anywhere means different starting paths, and depending on your actions can open or close different parts of the story. Very few people will experience the game the exact same way.
- Advance AI. This one im still skeptical since its so hard to pull off, but apparently every enemy is in the game world and lives in it. Meaning there wont be anyone who "spawns" in. But they can call for reinforcements. And apparently theyre very tenacious.
- Realistic gun behaviors. Guns can degrade with use and over time and will jam more often the more wear they have, like in Stalker.
- Hand held map with compass and binocs. No clumsy menu. You take out your map, check your compass and off you go.

And these are just the things i can remember. I really hope they release this yr. It looks pretty far along but ya never know.

I'm almost glad they seem to be concentrating so heavily on single player. Considering the lameness of Crysis' MP experience, I'd almost rather they expend that energy in just making the SP campaign longer and better.

The game does look amazing.

I never played the first, mostly because I heard it's only a good game for the first half. However, that demo looked amazing. I'm almost certain my computer couldn't handle it, but if I get one good enough I'll be sure to look at it.

And if you have a $10,000 machine you can fully realize this game...

Very much excited about this game. The first far cry was imo the best single player game ever made. Also looks like its going to be what stalker should have been, what with the ridiculously large playing field.

Only reservation is that its the same game as the one on the consoles. Not sure if I can name a single game that isnt hurt by that.

Really? I couldn't stand Far Cry. I quit when I ran my car into a car full of mercenaries, and when it exploded, I hid behind a tree and all the mercenaries forgot about me...

It looks simply incredible. 50 square miles of open world and a non-linear storyline.

Coming out in a couple of months. Woot!

Yh, I'm pumped for this. New PC soon, and I'm gonna really put some £££ into it, so hopefully it will be able to handle this well enough.
