Default The Art of the Octopus

Fun piece of Hockey History surrounds the reason why Detroit fans lob Octopus'es on the ice in playoff time.

And of course, Pittsburgh fish dealers asking for ID's for those who are looking to purchase Octopus.

I always wondered about that. Thanks for the history lesson.

Congrats to Detroit. They are now no longer allowed to win the cup for at least 10 years. Give some other people a turn.

Rad.

And now is not the time to be taking things away from Detroit - let's let them have something.

They have a bridge to Canada. What more could any American city desire?

lol, don't these other teams have some kind of responsibility to try and make themselves better? This is no different than the Yankees, The Lakers, the Patriots, or any other dynasties over time. If your going to have a consistent contender then it should be from a major market. Hockey has suffered from lackluster ratings in the past couple series and this one was an up year for TV.

I was cheering for Detroit just because they deserved to be rewarded (again) for maintaining such a strong team for so long. But now they really need to take a turn as an average team for a few years. They should follow the example set by the Oilers, the Penguins, and the Devils.
