I've started playing Armed Assault, well pretty much only Sahrani Life, alot again recently and I liked the idea of having a squad.xml for FocusedGaming so I created one and it's up on http://files.focusedgaming.com/arma/squad/squad.xml. I'm currently the only one in the squad members list, but I know there are some others here who play/own ArmA and they might want to wear the -F- patch on their shoulder too So if you'd like to be added to the squad.xml, please follow the following format and post here:

While we're at it, we can also use this topic as a discussion for Armed Assault itself. Like I said, I got pretty addicted to Sahrani Life. This is an RPG mod, where you roleplay either a civilian or a cop. It's such an amazing and in depth mod, that you're probably better off reading a guide about it or checking it out for yourself than letting me write about all the different features here.
Because VoN (VoIP) has been added to ArmA in the latest patch, 1.14, this new version of Sahrani Life is literally 10 times better than the previous ones. I'm also very satisfied with the fixes in terms of performance in 1.14. I haven't had a CTD once, in the 30 hours I've played the last few days.

The VoIP works really well. It's great how you can change from vehicle chat, to team chat, to global and direct chat (only to the people near you). Go update your copy now!

I have a digital copy of Armed Assault and it is very annoying to activate on every update. I should of bought it when it was $6 bargain bin.

ArmA is a great game, I miss it a lot. I only played Evo, and a few regular missions though, very awesome game.

I know what you mean. ArmA's got to have to worst patching system ever implemented in a game. I'm currently reinstalling ArmA on my second PC and it takes rougly 30 minutes to per patch. Because there are three patches you'll need to install seperately, this will cost you a total of 1,5 hours + 10 minutes for the game itself. Rediculous, but worth it!

edit: Patch 1.14 was made using a different patching system and only took 5 minutes to install, so it's not that bad after all

I tried playing the demo but I couldn't get it to work on Vista =\. I tried googling for any fixes but couldn't find anything. Basically the entire main menu is just pitch black with the background music and thats as far as the game goes..

Been playing a bit of ArmA again on the TG.. mostly with pubbers.
The game is running a ton smoother than it was at release.
And the new game mods are very nice... what BF2 could have / should have been.
The voice comms still trip me out.. (Hearing, Seeing the guys talking , walking up behind me)

Snips, sry I didnt catch your reply to this thread.. but the demo is very sketchy.. I was only able to run the second version of the demo.. the forth is what is now available... and yes I bought the game after the third and forth demos were unplayable :/

Can you run it? will tell you if it will run.. but you need a very over the top powerful rig to run it nicely.

You can set view distance up to 10,000Km.. the default is like 1Km .. I run at 2Km in cities and like 5 to 7Km depending on the location of attack... HUGE difference in playability.
Sniping guys you can see with binocs, but cant see in your acog scope.. FOR THE WIN.
