Well Dug you have your point, given most cultures had stories of creatures that could easily be misconscrued as such. but then again, your getting into cryptozoology which if your worth half a damn of stupid, you still know thats all bogus malarky.

Point I was making, was Blizzard was origanly set to make the first Warhammer pc game "Warcaft, Human Vs Orc" but GW backed out for some reason and Blizzard pushed on with the game. after that they more or less kept making games using close but not exact makes of the warhammer creations. I find it rather amusing how close they get without flat out taking something and claiming it was theirs first. anyway

Dawn of war 2 looks damn good. better then SC2 in my book but thats me. I never cared for the star craft game really.

Yes, you are absolutely right, referring to Eldar as Tolkein's creation is cryptozoology. Archetypes and collective consciousness also fall under that category as well. I know, let's just ignore the merit of something, slap a label on it, and base our perception of something on that.

I guess it will just take some more years under your belt. Unfortunately, even a very long lifetime might not be sufficient. It's your can of worms, pal, bon appetit.

Just what we needed, more crap.

[placeholder while I try and figure out how this thread went from DoW2 to pictures of shit]

What. The. Fuck.

How in Christ's sweet name can you expect anyone to take your argument seriously now? I had a reply. But why bother. I, for one, have enough years under my belt to know what is and is not appropriate posting etiquette - and I can be pretty darned abrasive at times.

Yeah, if you mean crap, say crap. While I'm not particularly offended by images of crap, this isn't 4CHAN.

RE-RAIL:
With the squad sizes getting smaller in DOW2 apparently I'm interested to see how that are going to implement the Tyranids and Orcs, since they are the two biggest swarm armies in 40k; with IG coming just after.

I think the intent is to bring to the game the sense that you get from the fluff (WH40K literature) that the Space Marines are 100% badass. In WH40K fluff, a single Space Marine is worth 1000 Imperial Guardsmen (regular human armies). There's no reason to think that the Orks will be as limited in number.

I hope the Imperial Guard make it into the game, although I doubt it.

I bet the IG will be in the game in the same fashion that they were in the original DoW. there will be a select few units in the campaign that will be allied with the space marines, and then they will be made a full race in a later expansion. I dont know a whole lot about the engine its on, but i heard its the same one as in CoH and that in CoH one could entrench and fortify which seems like the guardsmen style.

I really hope they do a few things differently with DoWII, namely, i want an accessible map editor. To me, fostering the interest in creating new game types with the engine is what made warcraft 3's replayability go through the roof and at least partially stunted DoWI's success (that and balance issues not being addressed in a timely manner).

If, and when, they introduce other Imperial factions, I hope they don't have them at each other's throats in story arcs as pitifully constructed as DC's and SS's campaigns were. The SS campaign in particular was little better then all 9 factions clumping together and saying, "Oh look! There be Xenos/Heretics/Traitors/The Living/The Selfish here!! Shoot them! Shoot them all!!"

And don't get me started on how long it's taking Relic to release the so-called "hotfix" for SS's worst bugs that they said would be ready for early July. =\
