Well the cloud at the end of the trailer kind of has to be them, it rules out every race except them and chaos. Chaos wouldn't travel like that and it does not look like anything related to the warp.

I thought chaos when I saw it, since I saw that chaos star vaguely shaped in the clouds. Then I realised that the eldar peeps wouldn't give up to chaos.
So it must be nids I suppose.

AWESOME.

Insert lots of chaos-not-playable-race rage here.

I really don't think we want to start accusing video game companies of steeling concepts from the old pencil-and-paper rpg's. That would make it near impossible to create a futuristic or fantasy based video game without it having at least one aspect that has been "ripped off" from some module somewhere. Heck, when you look at the old pen-and-paper rpgs, much of that was taken from literature and even from obscure articles written at the time.

That said tho, you're right, some people who are unaware of the History of the Tyranids will spout that crap. Educate them or ignore them.... or pile some crap on them, we can always use more crap.

Actually, if memory serves, GW had PC games out before Blizzard scooped up the RTS market. That's a moot point, however, and I could be wrong on that. Even so, they DID all but steal concepts from GW. Hell, they are still doing it. Look at the new Terran unit in SC2, the Reaper. Minus the chainsword and melee combat, it appears to be in just about every other way a mirror image of your standard Assault Space Marine, including the ability to toss high explosive detpacks (WH40K Meltabombs vs SC2 D8 charges) at hardened structures and targets. If this unit wasn't lifted from WH40K, it almost certainly came from Dawn of War, or I'll eat my shirt and Bob's your uncle.

Protoss are also bad eldar rip offs, they interact with the warp and a have light and dark side. Their backstory also involves losing their home planet which happened to the eldar. Fortunately they don't copy eldar units as much.

And where did Warhammer get the concept of Eldar? Hell, Warhammer didn't even change the damn name, Eldar, a.k.a. Star People. They were the elves, who coincidently are the Eldest Race on Middle Earth and also left their homes. Nit pick all you want, but if your memory goes far back enough, you'd realize that the "origins" of these things you say are ripped off, were actually ripped of to begin with.

A closer look at Warhammer shows that they "ripped off" D&D on countless occasions, lizard men, goblins etc.. etc... But if you look further back, MUCH of this stuff originated with Tolkein, but even he has roots in articles, nevermind Archetypes and the collective consiousness.

Do you guys really want to open this can of worms? Because all you're really doing is piling on, when ironically, your "origins" of concepts are really just rip-offs to start with. Honestly, guys, this is a can of worms that isn't worth opening. If my argument doesn't teach you, perhaps a few more years under your belt will
