I'm pretty sure Dragon Age is just a myth, otherwise I would also have listed it.

Well I pretty much just finished watching the 90 minute Sony (PS3, PSP, PS2) E3 Press Conference.

If there ever was a game trailer that could force me to put my hands down my trousers, this is it:

(link removed. forum not happy with it)

I'm pretty sure exclusively for PS3, up to 256 Players on 1 map, broken down into squads. Apparently this has been in production for roughly 2 years already.

Now I know there's a high probability of problems, lag probably coming straight to mind, smacktards (unavoidable, but how much of problem?), balancing issues - one overpowering weapon and the game becomes stupid, use of vehicles; in a game like this there's a whole lot that needs to be done right. Hell, we don't even know if the basic run and shoot mechanisms will feel right.

It's a long-shot for sure, but if this can really meet (or perhaps exceed...?) expectation, it'll be a hell of a game without a doubt.

And if it fails...it will be one, giant, epic fail, and will be interesting to see.

P.S. Great track in the background - anyone know it?

Edit:...Erm...I think I've broken the forum....

Edit 2: Here's another link for anyone who missed it (removed by Bommando for obvious reasons):

http://uk.gamespot.com/ps3/action/ma...ag=tabs;videos

Correct link on that page is "MAG Trailer 1."

that looks really cool, but there's not much i like less than trying to play first person shooters on a console system.

I agree with that, although CoD4 is about the closest in recent history to be close to making it feeling as natural and easy as PC does. It's why I said about the basic run and gun mechanisms, so easy to get wrong on a console and so simple to get right on PC, but this seems to be a huge project for them, which is why I'm hoping they'll be able to get all of this right.

If it does work, I'll definitely be looking for a clan of some sort to play this with. Imagine Organised Scrims with 100 payers per side, unlikely to happen, but we can always dream .

Few places or organizations can organize scrimmages that large. You rarely got that in 64 player 2142, so I think you'll find it hard to get in 200+ console games. I can attest to how damn difficult it is to organize one of these things as I did it several times. More than likely competition will, as it normally does, devolve into infantry only 5v5 or so.

That game reminds me of Joint Operations...That was a LONG time ago. But so many memories. It was released PC only and had a limit of 150 players per server, so many crazy things happend in that game, but the best part of all was it really felt like everyone worked together.

The maps in that game were so collossal a few people just commited themselves to fly helicopters back and forth from the base camp spawn to the frontlines to carry about 6-20 people with them depending on what helicopter they were flying. Some of these people were really dedicated.

I dug up the intro video on youtube. (Personally one of my favs.)

Sony already made an online FPS featuring hundreds of players on one map, broken into platoons then broken further into squads. It was awesome, it was lag free, and it was seamless. It was called PlanetSide.

It was fun. But my experience was neither lag free nor seamless. Nevertheless, I'd love to see a Planetside 2.
