Default warhammer online min spec released

Not sure how many ppl are going to give warhammer a shot, I want to atleast try it in beta before i cancel my preorder. So here are the min specs they just released. I see the nvidia rolls all the way back to Gforce 5 series.

The wait is over!

We're pleased to announce the current minimum system requirements to run WAR at launch.

We will continue to optimize WAR as we move closer to launch and even beyond but these will provide you with a very accurate idea of what is needed in order to play the game.

So without further adieu the minimum specs for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning:

PC SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

For Windows XP

· 2.5 GHz P4 (single core) processor or equivalent
· 1 Gigabyte RAM
· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

For Windows VISTA

· 2.5 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
· 2 Gigabyte RAM
· A 128 MB Video Card, with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
· At least 15 GB of hard drive space

Supported Video Cards

ATI Radeon(TM) series

· 9500, 9600, 9800
· X300, X600, X700, X800, X850
· X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950
· 2400, 2600, 2900,
· 3650, 3850, 3870
· 4850, 4870

NVIDIA GeForce series

· FX 5900, FX 5950
· 6600, 6800,
· 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950
· 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800
· 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800
· GTX 260, GTX 280

Intel(R) Extreme Graphics

· GMA X4500

Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slowly. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly. Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants will have low settings selected, but should run satisfactorily.

Please note that attempting to play the game using video hardware that isn’t listed above may result in reduced performance, graphical issues or cause the game to not run at all.

The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista.

15GB of space?! Thats one massive game.

Although, I still refuse to pay $50 for a game, and then continue paying $15 every month just to play it! The idea is just ridiculous to me.

Well it's a MMORPG. $50 for the game and $15/mo for a subscription isn't out of the ordinary for MMORPGs.

15 gigs is nothing.

Age of Conan fully patched is like 27 gigs. It comes on 2 DVD install discs.

Im curious where you, i dont mean to single you out citizen, people come from when you think its ridiculous to pay $50 for a game and $15 per month? Ive been hearing this argument for years. It costs money to develop a game and then it costs upkeep to keep it going, patch it and come out with new stuff.

$15 a month is like 3 or 4 beers at the bar and instead of getting a few hours of fun you get a months worth.

Sorry I'm honestly just tired of the people that just keep coming up with this argument. lol!

I think if you said 50 cents a day someone would go no big but when you hear it in a lump sum you go wtf? Same thing with people who buy coffee or fast foods frequently, you think oh 2-10 dollars no big deal. If I said 60-300 dollars you would flip out and say that is ridiculous.

Games like Guild Wars have been huge successess without going for the $15 per month fee's. It just doesn't seem logical to me that you have to pay $50 for a game, but then on top of that keep paying for it just to play it.

I think It would be fine to be able to keep the monthly fee, but make it so you don't have to pay $50 for the whole game. That way, you play for maybe a month and you might realize the game was nothing you expected it to be and have lost only $15-$20. Instead of being stuck with a useless $50 game your never going to play again.

I doubt monthly fees are going to change anytime soon, I'm not here to attack anyone who pays fee's to play their games or who's interested in Warhammer Online. I'm interested in the game myself, and have played many other games with monthly fee's such as Face of Mankind, World of Warcraft (Kinda regret it), and Eve Online. Also looking forward to Aion.

I'm surprised you've heard this argument before, I always thought I was the only one who was against paying monthly fee's on games lol.

The $50 covers the fees of shipping and boxing and pressing, well hardly any of it) but it also gives the developers an initial revenue to work with before subscriptions kick in. Since most companies give you the first month free, its like buying the game for $35.

Guild wars is a little different. First off it isn't really an mmo, it is a bad diablo clone, almost everything is instanced for you or your group so that basically cuts the need for server upkeep cost. Secondly maybe I am incorrect on this but don't any substantial new content packages come as new 50 dollar games? I am also sure that any extra needed money can come from ncsoft when necessary. The simple fact is in this day and age maintaining the massive servers necessary to play an mmo while introducing new content is expensive.

I see your points, I never really thought about it that way, with keeping the servers running and providing extra content and such. Most people would simply reply to me about the subject with something like "Your paying $15 per month because the companies are greedy." Or "The $15 per month is because the game is so good."
