One of the cool features of Chrome is the page action "Create application shortcuts...". If you haven't played with this yet, it creates shortcuts on your desktop or start menu to the given webpage. Except the webpage runs without any of the Chrome UI, so it looks like a normal program. Obviously this works pretty well with GMail and Google Docs, and anything that supports Google Gears.

Here's a really slick site to make into a desktop webapp: http://listen.grooveshark.com/

Since Chrome beta was released now the interweb is full of ridiculous browser memory footprint comparisons.

"omg in my testing IE8 uses 260 MB while Chrome uses 290 MB and Firefox uses 210 MB!!!!"

I guess I should run out and buy a 20 meg memory module and a can of "Care" because right now it seems I'm running low on both.

30-80 mb is serious business. I mean come on that could really slow your comp down.

It would be totally rad if Chrome were to join the other browsers in providing universal scroll-up abilities!

As we all know from Vista's release, teh memories are a scarce resource. We must conserve memory, before it's too late!

Computers have displaced cars as a hobby, and geeks have displaced gear heads. The idiocy is still there. "There's no replacement for displacement" has become "Don't use any memory! Download this 'memory optimizer'!
