Stalker: Clear Sky
Curious as to who's looking at this game. It releases on Steam in about 2 days, and is available in retail stores in about 2 weeks. This is a prequel from the previous Stalker game.

Considering getting it, but probably gonna wait for reviews to come out. The first game had so much potential, but they squandered it by making the factions hardly noticeable, the nuclear meltdown as the story rather than the circumstance (made it linear), and the fact that it wasnt a really open world as everything would respawn as you go from one area to another.
I think I read somewhere that they had problems distributing it, which is why the retail release is so late.

its gotten around 7.5 in reviews which is what i recall the original got. Granted theres only a few reviews out so far. It should be good if you liked the original, and im almost positive that mods and patches will make it awesome like the original

Just got the original today (never thought about getting it before but I saw it for £4 and couldn't really say no), so far I haven't played it that long but I am already getting the district impression that the game could of been so much more. It tries to be oblivion but the way it goes around it is more confusing (nothing seems that well explained) the weapons don't feel right and randomly getting hit by radiation which takes off half your health is a bad idea for any game. However saying that it is still fun and I have high hopes for Clear Sky if they can sort out the few problems that made Shadow one of those 'think about what it could of been' games.

It also had a odd difficulty. The first third of the game can be fairly challenging as you are going around with crappy weapons with limited ammo. Eventually you get the kickass guns, have billions of dollars to buy unlimited ammo, have artifacts that make you nearly invincible and it becomes very easy.

That mod will fix that problem and more. Highly recommended.

I'll be picking it up even though I know it will be buggy like the first one. Even with the bugs I had a great time with the original.

I enjoyed the first (though never finished), great setting and atmosphere. I'll probably pick up the second in the future when it comes down in price. With Fallout 3 right around the corner I think that will fill my need for a futurisitic first person RPG.
