Gaming mice.
I'm looking to replace my MX1000. I was reading some reviews of the Razer DeathAdder and Habu models. Has anyone had experience with a Razer mouse or any other suggestions? What mice do you guys use?

I use the Logitech G5, 2007 edition. Very nice mouse, has been serving me for almost a year now and I've had no problems with it at all. The build quality is fantastic, everything feels solid and sturdy. I use the extra thumb buttons every day, one for Teamspeak and one for ingame VoIP. The only thing I found a little buggy was the sensitivity changing while ingame, so I only use one sensivity right now. (1450 dpi) I haven't had any experience myself with Razer mice though but friends of mine have told me they were very satisfied with their Diamondbacks.

i use the g5 as well and it's awesome. it's not too flashy but it's great as a gaming mouse. Also, the ergonomics of it are great. I feel like we probably like similar peripherals given that we're in the brotherhood of the speedpad.

Your current mouse is a Logitech, right Ultra? If so, you'd probably want to stick with a Logitech so that you don't have to adjust to a new mouse shape. The G5 is the bizzy iz biznomb.

I have three gaming mice: Logitech MX518, Logitech G5 revision 2 and the Razer Lachesis.
The Logitech mice are very comfortable if you palm your mouse since it is molded to fit you hand. The MX518 and the G5 are almost the same except the G5 is smoother to move on the pad and has a tilt wheel. The tilt wheel is a bit annoying when you try to push down the middle mouse button, but gives you two additional buttons with tilting left and right.
The Razer mouse is used if you finger your mouse. It is very smooth on the pad and has very very high DPI settings. I tend to palm my mouse which is bad in the Lachesis case because it actually lifts the front of the mouse up slightly causing me not to be able to reliable pin-point accuracy.
I like the Lachesis for TF2 and I use my G5 for Hellgate London and for Frontlines.
So if you have big hands and palm your mouse then the Logitech mice are good. If you are ambidextrous or left handed or finger your mouse, then Razer is better.

I've got the first version G5, and the only real downside to it is the lack of another thumb button. This was the main thing they changed in the newer / current version, IIRC.
It's fantastic. The weight system seems like a gimmick, but it's actually pretty useful to get the balance / friction "just right". The fat Teflon pads on the bottom help it move very smoothly. The shape fits my hand well - I have a problem with smaller mice and having my hands cramp up. That's why I replaced my prior MX310, it was just too small. Well, not "fat" enough, I guess.
The on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment is nice to have, although I don't use it that much in TF2. I found I used it quite a bit in BF2 - higher speed to turn a tank turret quicker, medium for all-around use, and sometimes the lower sensitivity for sniping. Like the weight system, nice to have in case you do want to mess with it.
I haven't used any of the Razers long-term, just in stores or when a friend had one. They just didn't feel right for my hands, but they seemed fine otherwise. If you can get your hands on the various ones you're looking at, see which feels better. The G5 is pretty similar in size to the MX1000, so it should feel pretty good to you.

I've got a Razer Copperhead and it has done fantastically over the 2 years that I have had it. I'm planning on getting a Lachesis or Deathadder within the next few months. If I had one complaint with the Copperhead it would be that the symmetrical design was hard to get used to.

Razer DeathAdder as well as the G5. Can't really go wrong with either mouse IMO, however I do prefer the DeathAdder by a decent margin. The mouse just "feels" better to me and the responsiveness is top notch.
The G5 does give you more bells and whistles with the on-the-fly sensitivity, though I almost never found myself bothering with it. (which can be an endorsement or a knock down depending on your POV). The weights are nice so you can get the mouse to feel how you like, but again if you've never really had an issue with how heavy your mouse feels, it's something you probably won't mess with a ton.
Honestly, the top 4 or 5 mice are are REAL close and you really can't go wrong with any of them. Best advice is to try them out in a store and see what one feels best in your hand. Performance differences are going to be minimal.

I use the logitech mx518 as well. I bought it because it was on sale at the time, the regular price is still cheap compared to some others though. It has sensitivity adjustments but i usually stick with one setting. The thumb buttons are the only feature i wanted though, I normally use them for primary and secondary weapon select.
