Default Possible Memory Leak work around

Ok, I was one of the long time Beta testers that heard about the memory leak issue yet never had a problem. Which is why it has become so frustrating for me after installing the retail version of the game and finding that now I have a MASSIVE memory leak issue. I always knew there was a problem based on how many complaints there were on the forums, but I could never understand why it was so hit and miss from person to person.

So I went back and looked over any settings I had changed from one version to the next, and the only thing I had done differently was bump up my Textures from "High" to "Very High". So last night I changed them back and haven't experienced a memory crash yet.

Now I'm aware that it could be a coincidence and it may be something completely different from computer to computer, but Bom tried the same fix and it seemed to work for him as well. Bomm also noticed that everything in your inventory is actually rendered instead of being a "flat" picture which could explain why so many have had Inventory crashes.

Only downside from changing from Very High to High is that there is a noticable drop in image quality in game. It's not terrible, but I can't even imagine how bad a "Medium" setting under Textures must look if the drop is this bad from setting to setting.

However, if it fixes the memory leak for now, I'm more than happy to play an uglier game until Flagship figures out the problem. Hope that helps some of you that have the same issue.

I never crashed due to memory leak, but I did the texture thing last night and it seems to cut the leak since my RAM usage went from like 98% to 50-60% usage while in stations. I still crash a lot in inventory and sometimes when portalling around.

I turned off AA and Antitrospblahblah filtering. Make a big difference in framerates, I almost always have to turn off AA since my monitors native res is 1440x900 I believe.

I turned AA off on my computer yesterday to see if it helped boost my frames due to the annoyingly large fire for the Fawkes event, and boy did everything look like ass.

I run the game at 1920X1200, turning off AA makes things look muddy for some reason.

I haven't experienced any memory leak. Once in a while when I zone it just sits there at the loading screen and never advances.

If it is just loading and loading (i.e: the circle is spinning forever) try to alt tab out and back in, this usually works for me. Although it could of been coincident.

Zoop you know of any Vista tweaks that would free up some memory? At idle Im using about 280-300mb of RAM. I used to turn off services when I had XP but I tried that and didnt really make much of a difference. I'm asking this because I'm assumeing that you have vista (thought you made the remark about the blur effect..could be wrong) if not, then dont pay any attention to me.
