Default New to Hell.

I've just started hellgate and i'm wondering which class you guys think is best?
So far I've been using a blademaster (level 16 now) on singleplayer.
(MP is broken atm, takes ages to load then says there's an error connecting to the server.)

MP isnt broken, all you have to do is d/l a manual patch. When you first load up MP, you prolly d/led a pretty big patch right? Well after that, go here -> http://hellgatelondon.com/patches

D/L the third one down that says Stonehenge chronicles. Then load MP back up and it'll d/l ANOTHER patch (fun, no?) and then you should be good to go.

Could it just be that I don't have stonehenge?

EDIT: whoa that's a big patch, I'll leave it till tonight and leave it going while I sleep.

Class choice is a personal preference. Blademasters can deal out some crazy damage, but they are very fragile, so you'll be guzzling down buckets of Health Injectors. I can give a breif overview of the roles each class fills:

Guardian: Tank. Can have extremely high defense, not the best on offense.
Blademaster: High damage output, low survivability compared to Guardians.

Marksmen: Extreme damage output, very fragile. Has the widest selection of weapons.
Engineer: Pet class. High damage output, but needs to rely on its Drones/Bots.

Evoker: Sort of the middle of survivability and damage. Does a lot of AoE (Area of Effect) damage spells. Attacks are all power based, weapon choice is extremely poor.
Summoner: Like an Engineer except with weaker guns. Has a wider selection of pets that fill different roles (tanks, damage, healers).

For me I prefer Evokers.

Having a high level Blademaster I can tell you they are very fun, but also very frustrating.

Like Zoopy said, they are your typical glass cannon. Can dish out some HUGE damage, but can go down faster than you'd like to believe.

So you have to pick your spots and not just jump into every group you see or you'll get rolled.

My personal favorite has turned into Guardian, especially if you're playing with friends. But I've always liked the tank/high DPS roll so both classes fit my playstyle.

Evoker can be just sick and Marksman is a lot of fun as well. Each class plays differently from the other, so just mess around with them and see what suits you.

If you have two braincells to rub together blademasters will last just fine. You need to remember to keep a decent supply of health pots and mana pots on you at all times. Past the first station or two you will need to start carrying around all the status removers in good quantity. Taking up charge and heavens arc are good ideas, charge can really help get you out of bad spots or into new spots. You need to play hit and run, you can sit and fight sometimes because you can just cut down enemies so fast. Really soloing is pretty is with the bm, you can survive enough and deal enough damage to last well.

The true bane of blademasters is grouping. The buff in monster means you will need to hit and run like mad. You will rarely be able to sit and slug it out if you are in a group with more than 3 people.

I've specifically played engineers. Finished the game on normal and now have a level 25 eng elite that I play while soloing. On the first go-around, I made my main pet a do-everything pet with all of the powers, and not enhancing them much. This time, I've made him the traditional bot-tank with a flame thrower. At some point I'll add a sword. I've been focusing on getting the character all of the AoE's as if I and when I play with others with guardians, I expect to be able to really wear down the mobs surrounding the guardian with the AoE's.
