I just picked the game up and it looks really interesting. I'm enjoying kicking around and learning the ropes. I especially like the fact that you can jump in, set a few things in motion and then just leave it be for a while.

Great concept.

I am around 27:53 teamed up with Lucky and the guys.

I just started playing the game ( IKARIAM) a week ago and I have read the 'manual' over and over. I at level 8 at the moment, built ALL REQUIRED BUILDING, over 60,000 in gold & raised army. My researchers are at level 9 yet I have NO POINTS for research.???? My point thus far is 1023, for my effort in the entire game. I am still not sure how the point are calculated? I looked around at other player and notice that point and level have little to do with each other. Can someone please shed some light on this subject?

DId you add scientists? It might help if there were scientists at all...
If you did, its just another of the numerous "unexpected features".

I agree with Greenen, look in your academy and assign scientists to create research. I would gear the research towards Wealth, Expansion and then Professional Army.

Thanks guys for your response. I have done all that you have suggested, (including scoping out the point calculation sheet...) upgrading my town wall to the same level as my town hall. and my point are at moment 0ver 1300??? I will struggle along and see how things go. Who know the game might become clearer.

The best island configuration that I would suggest.

1 Colony: Whatever you start with.
2: Marble and whatever you started with. If you started Marble, then Marble Marble, or Marble Wine.
3: Marble, Marble, Wine
4: Marble, Marble, Wine, Crystal
5: Marble, Marble, Wine, Wine, Crystal.

You can still do well with a sulfur island, I started on Sulfur and am top 20 in the alpha server. If you wanted to set up in our direction, we're in the 28:54 area.
