Lucky Shot

This is just a basic number crunching session to figure out the best soldiers for the job. Here is a text version but it's based on considering initial build costs and time which is important if your under pressure. But if build time and lumber/sulfur cost isn't important, then all that remains is maintenance once the units are built. This is the situation that I am in, so what is the best unit in your army?

Pulling info from the Ikariam Wiki we can start to figure out what soldiers provide the best bang for the buck. Note, this does not include any workshop upgrades.



When attacking Swordsmen and Bombadiers both receive a 30% Attack bonus. With resistance, both Steam Giants and Phalanx receive a 30% bonus to their Defensive Stats when in their home cities.

Best Offensive units go to: Steam Giant straight up for damage followed by Gunsman second. Swordsman gets bumped up to 1.46 when it's on offense and would become equal to the Steam Giant.

Best Defensive unit: Steam Giant in all situations as it shares the resistance bonus on defense with Phalanx which is in second.

Best Overall unit: If you were to have just a 1 type of unit army, then the Steam Giant is the ultimate fighter with a big batch of guys competing for second.

Thanks to the Ikariam Wiki, we were able to fill in some of the blanks on what the possible upgrades were. Because of this, we can now provide stats for when the workshops are implemented (.2.2 and beyond).
