I've made some updates to the forum reputation system and I thought I'd take this opportunity to describe a little how it works:
User reputation is a gauge of how much their peers approve or disapprove of their posts. You can leave positive or negative reputation by clicking the reputation button at the bottom left of the user's profile to the left of their post. You can also leave a comment, which appears at the bottom of the user's
User CP. You will add or remove rep point according to your rep power, which is affected by factors described below.
New users begin with 95 rep points when they sign up. Any existing users have 100 points added to their rep retrospectively.
Your rep bubbles increase with your rep level as you gain more rep from your fellow users. Rep gains are exponential, which means the score needed to gain each level increases from the last. The first few levels will come quickly, with subsequent levels becoming increasingly harder to attain.
The factors which affect your rep power are (in descending order of importance from most to least important):
- Your own base rep level. The more rep points you have, the more you will affect that of others.
- Your post count. Larger post counts contribute to rep power more.
- Your time registered. The longer you have been registered on the forums, the more rep you will alter.
A user must have at least 10 posts to alter rep and must have at least 95 rep points themselves to have an affect on the rep of others.
So, show your fellow users how you feel and let me know if you have any questions
