I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread, so we can all share our superior strategies on killing terrorists, multiplayer tips and other stuff. Here are a few useful things I found myself:
- Removing the intro videos:
I know it can be very annoying having to watch these over and over again, but I'm glad I found a way to get rid of these in
this topic at the Ubi forums. Basically what you do is remove the files called W_MM_Splash_a.bik, Ubilogo.bik and utech_sw.dds (making a backup of these could be a good idea) and then extract the files in the .zip archive found
here.
note: this is made for RSV 1 but it works for #2 as well.
- Remapping your cover/aim through sights keys
Brutus discovered that the left control key is not mapped by default and because pressing the middle mouse button to zoom in doesn't work that well, he figured he'd use the left CTRL to get to cover and the RMB to aim through sights. I've been using this myself too and it works perfect for me.
- Using your map in multiplayer
Just a little tip for when you're playing in multiplayer:
Holding TAB will make the map appear on your screen, the way the map works is quite similar to the Battlefield games, because when you either see an enemy or see him shoot (not entirely sure what one of these two is correct, I've not tested it properly yet), he will appear as a red 'icon' on your map. I've flanked alot of opponents this way, because the red dot will stay on your map for a few seconds, allowing you to think of a way to shoot him from behind.
The map is especially useful in the Team Leader gamemode, because when the enemy leader is spotted, you'll also see a red Team Leader icon on your map. This is nice when he's trying to make a run for the extraction point, because you can be one step ahead of him and intercept him.
- Not sure what server will give you the least amount of lag, because of the lack of a ping system?
There is a way to get a rough indication about the distance between you and the server, this is mainly useful for Europeans, though:
When someone creates a server, there's a setting called 'language', here people can check what language they want people who join their server to speak. This will probably be their native language, so say, someone creates a server with language 'German': I'll then know I can easily join that server, knowing that I'll probably get a decent ping.
I realize this is a very inaccurate way and rather unreliable way to find out if the server is any close to you, but it helped me find a smooth server a good amount of times.
- Multiplayer map images
These can be found
here.
- Weapons with default reflex sights
There is a number of weapon in the game, which have reflex (red dot) sights mounted on the gun by default. I haven't unlocked all guns yet, but these are the ones I know of that have them:
TAR21
P90
MG36
So there is no point on equipping red dot sights on these, because they already have them. Take an extended mag or laser pointer instead
