Type the following into your console:

Code:
record <filename>
where <filename> is the filename of the demo.

So if you wanted to record a demo called "Demomanp0wnz0r" you'd put this in the console:

Code:
record Demomanp0wnz0r
Your Demo will continue to map changes and round changes. If the map changes during recording, you'll have a second demo file with "_2" appended to the file name. So your Demomanp0wnz0r demo will be Demomanp0wnz0r_2 if the demo is recording on the map change.

To stop recording just put the following in the console:

{code]stop[/code]

File size will depend on the the length of the round. I have Dustbowl demos that are about 40MB.

The performance hit isn't noticeable on my computer, but it may very so test it out first.

EDIT: Damn you Bane

I'm curious as to whether or not you can keybind it. I used to have a keybind for UT that I used valued for the name I was usingmap, date, and time. It made life easier since I didn't have to go into the console everytime I wanted to make a demo.

You mentioned that if the map changed it would add a _2. I wonder if it would do that for all the demo's with the same name (lets say a day later) or would it overwrite them.

I was pub raiding tonight in Turbine as a scout, and teamed up with a medic (guy named therapy, he'll probably check us out soon). We were absolutely dominant, even against other medic combos including heavy/med, though the heavy was admittedly not the greatest. I think I went something like 80-14. Since I constantly had a medic, I didnt have to rush shots to kill someone before I died, so I ended up being able to be far more deadly than a regular scout. Also, it made soldiers an easy kill so long as they didnt get a crit.

So, id like to try this on our server in Turbine to see if it has any merit against decent players or if was just a fluke. Its gotta be a very good medic of ultrablue caliber that knows how to use objects as cover and knows when to escape when necessary. I dont think the average medic would be capable of it.

I know most people will dismiss it outright because the scout is too fast for the medic, but if you watch your speed and stay in his vicinity it aint a problem at all.

Any class with a personal medic will always do much better, as long as you know when to retreat to heal up (ie get another 'life'), and the medic always tells you if he's in trouble. A smart enemy would always go after your medic and force you two apart; you both are fast classes, it should be very easy to suddenly/accidentally become separated. I can't really see how a soldier would become an 'easy kill' though XD Well on turbine maybe, only because it's wide open and generally favorable to scouts in the first place. And yes that heavy must've been horrible.

Here is another demo from tonight. I think I went 19-4, but dont quote me on it. Still trying to perfect the midair shot, as it can be extremely deadly if ya master it. In turbine ya can leap off the battlements and get 2 good shots on unsuspecting targets, but its very difficult to aim while falling down.

Oh, and luuser gets a ridonkulous headshot in the demo. Hacker.
