Default Basic & Advanced TF2 Spy Tactics & Techniques

After seeing these videos and seeing Santa's Scout thread, I thought we could use a decent Spy focused thread to collect the best spy techniques and tips. I'm probably the worst spy on our server, so any tips help!

Having only played Spy on Pubs long before I got into -F- servers, I might just give him a go. Could add some new flavor to the game. Plus these videos are pretty well done.

Those videos are pretty nice, but I think Spy is the type of class that can only be really learned through observation of full matches (to learn hiding spots/actions you take depending on the flow of the map) in combination with practice. I'd really like to see some demos from the more talented spies, to get a feel for the pacing of their actions (how they get behind the enemy lines, when they strike etc.). Watching tutorial videos sometimes feels like you're watching mixtapes of the maker's best spy moments, or just picking up tips for specific situations, rather than getting a feel for how a Spy plays out across an entire round.

Being masochistic and hating fun, your own and that of others, are also necessary prerequisites.

Videos were helpful. I was at least competent today in the rounds i played spy. I dont see myself continuing to play it though, as I found it kind of boring and monotonous at times.

Heh, i know its all preference. I can totally see how some people would see sniper as boring. Personally, i just didnt really enjoy playing spy.

Was kind of surreal seeing Santa spend entire rounds around the middle/upper middle, then finish around the top 5.
